15.9m vs 16.0m on the front page right now. How will you celebrate the occasion? Pop a cork for the Switch, pour one out for the poor Vita, or both?

Comparing a dedicated handheld to a hybrid home console is like comparing motorcycle sales to automobile sales. Different markets, different demographics... the variables won't allow for me to even begin comparing their sales because they're just too great.

They're all part of the same greater video game market. You really think people who buy consoles never buy handhelds and vice versa? lol

Around the Network

Also, the pass has happened. 16.1m to 16.0m now. Poor Vita. It deserved better than Sony gave it.

Double standards at the finest, but I digress

OP

Next up for Switch, Gamecube! Which should be passed probably in June if numbers are backed up.

Call it double standards but passing a low selling console isn't exactly a reason to celebrate. PS4 on the other hand passed a high selling console.

I dont think its reason to celebrate, but it's definitely interesting to see how consoles and for what time are passing milestone of other consoles (pass or current ones).

Still have 2 ps vita's, one I bought cheap that has a faulty cartridge bay that is setup for my US psn account and another I've had for a longer time. Both the original model with the glorious OLED displays. Still use for remote play and psn plus still provides 1-2 games for Vita per month. Super cheap portable gaming.

The only issue I have is one has a 4GB card and the other 8GB so I often have to juggle games and can't have a wide selection stored on the cards. Unless I see a larger card dirt cheap I doubt I'll upgrade it as it gets less use nowadays. Hoping to see a reduced size Switch model that is a more viable portable for me sometime in the future that will probably take over the Vita roles or maybe a new portable console from someone else. Despite the Vita's lack of success I've always found it to have a good selection of games plus the bonus of remote play.

To be honest though I've also built up a large library of android games and a decent android compatible portable would do me with decent gamepad mapping of games. Android seems to be getting a much wider range of games plus very low prices and some are getting very impressive. It's where the majority of portable gaming is done nowadays by some margin.

Next GameCube, Atari 2600, Xbox and most likely N64 this fiscal year.
