“We’re starting to do more on Nintendo Switch. SNK Heroines is not the only one. They support us in a good way. Compared to that, Sony is not friendly with small publishers like us. They just care about big Japanese companies. Also, if we simultaneously release a Switch version and a PS4 version of the same title, currently the sales trend is two to one. That means the Switch version sells twice as much as the PS4 version. Physically and digitally. A lot of PS4 titles are coming up, so the market is very competitive. Compared to that, the Switch market still has lots of room for publishers to make money.”

Which he is talking about SNK Heroines. But besides that , the PS4 version of Disgaea 5 obviously didn't release at the same time as the Switch version.

SNK Heroines is released Summer this year though

EDIT

So they must be getting sales trend from D5

Dammmmnnnnnnn

@Sony how do you plan to respond to this ?

Remember, it was the exact same thing in the first couple of years on the PS4. When a console doesn't have a lot of games yet, the companies are very friendly with small publishers able to release smaller games more quickly on the systems. When big publishers take over and you have a steady flow of big games on the console, the sales of the smaller titles become less important and so the relations between them also become less important. IIRC Sony said clearly last year something like "Now, indie titles are less important to us than at launch". If the Switch finally gets better third party support, in a couple of years a lot of small publishers will say this exact same thing about Nintendo.

Most likely picked the wrong words.

The guy most likely doesn't say that Disgaea Switch outsold the PS4 version, the article certainly doesn't. Only the title of this thread does, I think it is you that is picking the wrong words.

He even says 40% of Switch owners already owned the game before on PS4, which would be a small percentage of total owners of Disgaea 5.

Not from D5 but as he says "simultaneous releases" so basically preorders and other NISA games that they released simultaneously.

Could he be referencing the sales of the Touhou titles?

Yeah, I was just joking.

They will not, the Japanese market doesn't care about the PS4, unless some big exclusive game launches on it. So why would Sony put much effort into pleasing small Japanese studios if their audience doesn't care about them. I would rather see them put their effort in making small Japanese franchises bigger, like they did with Nier Automata. Besides didn't Personal 5, Ni-Oh and other Japanese games sell quite well partly thanks to Sony''s efforts for marketing.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Meh, given how prestigious AAA game development has become since the last generation, Disgaea stopped being a high end franchise as far back as the early PS3 days when the series hardly advanced in production values so it has no more business being primarily a franchise associated with the PS brand ...

Heck, why just stop at Switch and PC ? There's nothing that's preventing them from going all the way such as developing the series for mobile platforms like Android/iOS and god forbid maybe the X1 as well ...

"Sony doesn't care about small pubs like us"
...meanwhile most of their games as of the recent 5 years were on Sony platforms.

They just didn't realise how bad until the Switch came around
