Forums - Sales Discussion - Will Dark Souls Remastered sell more on Xbox One or Switch?

I think it'll sell more on...

Switch 62 72.09%

Xbox One 24 27.91%

Total:86

Switch will sell more.

This game has been building Hype for the Switch version since the system was still called NX.

Also on Xbox One you can already play Dark Souls 2 and 3 for likely pretty cheap now, especially if you get it used.

Around the Network

I'm undecided.

The Switch version seems to be getting more buzz, the system itself is hotter than Xbone, and it has Japan.

On the other, Xbone's install base is bigger for the moment, and the series is established on the platform.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Easily Switch.

1. Japan
2. X1 users buy other/new major 3rd party games.

3. Core Xbox players already played it on X360.

4. Portability is a stronger selling point than increased resolution/fps.

4 is subjective. Not everybody wants to sacrifice visuals and performance for portability given most of us just play at home.

Switch.

1) It is more popular console

That's not really relevant in this case. Because a lot of games can sell better on X1 even if Switch is more popular.

I'm considering basically just two things. Its a popular series in Japan and the X1 is not lacking in core games.

No, it is relevant in this case. Just look at multi-plats sales lately. They often go in this order: PS4 > Switch > Xbox One. The exceptions are usually FPS games or games that gets cut for Switch version like FIFA 18 for example.

Probably Switch, but only because the X360 version is already available for Xbox One.

But I think PS4 version > Switch + Xbox One versions combined

FPS and sports (sims inparticular) just happen to be genres that do fairly well on Xbox. These also happen to be genres that don't get a lot of traction on Nintendo consoles, not recently.

Remasters have potential on Switch because there is simply less options there, X1 is an older platform with significantly more options and better 3rd party support. Some games just appeal to the Switch audience more as well like Sonic Forces and Cars 3.

Not sure, I'm thinking X1 personally. But without Japan who knows.

Switch all the way. The remaster (if you can even call it that) looks like a downgrade in some aspects, plus the original is backwards compatible. A PS4 option should've been included in the poll, if I may be so bold.

I thought about that, but I figured the PS4 version would sell the most easily, so Switch vs Xbox One was the more interesting question.
