Forums - Gaming Discussion - Recommend Me a New Game

2017 was, in my opinion, the best year in the history of video games as a medium! I've spent much of my gaming time this year just playing and replaying the metric ton of outstanding titles released last year. Alas though, there has been so much catching up to do that I've resultantly kinda lost track of what new has been going on in gaming in the last few months and am in the market for something new; something 2018. I was wondering if anyone here would be interested in helping me find something that's been released this year so far that might be of particular interest. Any new games you (anyone) would recommend that I try?

If it helps decipher what my preferences are...

My Top 20 Favorite Games

1. Butterfly Soup
2. Gone Home
3. Chop Suey
4. Papo & Yo
5. Night in the Woods
6. Celeste
7. Portal
8. Portal 2
9. Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor
10. Ittle Dew 2+
11. Sword & Sworcery EP
12. Beyond Good & Evil
13. This War of Mine
14. Undertale
15. Ori and the Blind Forest
16. Okami
17. Mirror's Edge
18. Super Metroid
19. What Remains of Edith Finch
20. Crypt of the NecroDancer

Most Preferred Game Characteristics

-quality narrative
-ambience
-female lead
-retro aesthetics
-exploration
-creative gameplay

As you can see from my top 20 list, no game needs to have all of the above qualities per se. The above are just general preferences. Anyway, is there anything new (2018) along these general lines that you (anyone) would recommend that I check out?

I can't help with new stuff, but I'll post anyways. I'm still in the way back machine for the most part. Played no 2018 games as of yet, and only one from 2017, which was the "First Season" ( ugh ) of Hitman, which I DID rather like. It def hits on ambiance, exploration, and creative gameplay. So, as the most recent release I've played ( and some would argue it's a 2016 game ), try Hitman! Even though it's old, I also had a blast with Dishonored last summer. Ended up buying all the DLC too. Maaaaybe my favorite game last year. Seriously, look into it if you've never played it.
