Microsoft's 'E304 The Novice 4000k' featuring Donald Trump. This was a comedy skit based on Trump's 'The Apprentice' show and was made for E3 2004.

Oh geez. Lol. That's new to me. Was that supposed to....be somebody at the end? The guy that stole the Sony execs cab? I thought it was Bill Gates before I looked closer, but it's not him.

Console "wars" are pretty tame these days. They all just kinda do their thing and don't really openly attack each other.

Yeah, it was supposed to be Bill Gates. They got this lookalike.

SOA were the kings of trash talk. Sony tried and did a very good job emulating it with PS1 vs N64 but nothing like Sega during the 16-bit wars.

My favorite is probably the blast processing commercial where they make SNES and Mario Kart look like something that only your mentally challenged five year old cousin would be caught dead playing.

Those ads were so effective that it took two decades for Nintendo to be "cool" again and even then, they still haven't shaken the image of being something for children.

Yup. It's pats on the back and circle jerks for all. It's pretty boring.

political correctness.

Now everyone is just very nice and congratulates if the competition is successful.  Like someone from Sony saying that they play Nintendo consoles.

I wouldn't call it "brazen", but since the obvious examples were already mentioned, I'm going to say that time Xbox rented a boat for the lulz and went over to crash the PS3's launch in France:

I was thinking of the same thing! I remember in Polish gaming newspapers they commented that the X360 will stay on that boat and that it has no chance against PS3. That Microsoft is desperate and immature.

How ridiculous is it that a Bill Gates lookalike appeared in an Xbox ad instead of the genuine article? And he doesn't even look that much Bill Gates! Unless that was the whole idea.....Hmmm.

I'd say it's probably the ColecoVision add-on that allowed them to play 2600 games, essentially making the 2600 unnecessary to play its games!
