But are these 3rd party options still safe or can they brick the Switch after the next firmware update?

Why would some usb-charger brick the Switch? The Switch has standard USB-C for charging. Nothing fancy.

Well, it seems that the Switch ain't 100% USB-C compliant:

But I guess (hope), that it's only a problem for 3rd-party-docks which activate the more demanding TV mode, not USB chargers and power banks which just recharge the Switch and keep it in handheld mode.

I dont have a issue with it, and watched it, its okay.
Nice to see Nintendo do decent marketing with the switch.

Still think thread is kinda questionable, if 1 set of rules applies for others, it probably also should apply to the OP in this case.
