Kirby effect now well and truly over, what we have now seems to be the Switch's true baseline. Looking forward to what Labo's boost will be and if Nintendo have a new big hitter on their hands.
Sony still either deliberately or inadvertently starving the basic PS4 for the Pro in terms of supply, only problem is the boost for the Pro from MHW seems to be over so the Pro has reverted to its 7/8k baseline while the basic has not returned to its 21/22k pre MHW baseline.

Here is the week 13 update in terms of the two big consoles in Japan's path to be able to reach the commonly stated (in these sales threads) estimates for 2018 sales (2 mil for PS4, 4 mil for Switch) .

  TWS GD YTD AWN (Change)
PS4 25,325 -7,314 719,753 32,826 (+187)
Switch 44,033 -39,963 684,162 85,021 (+1025)

TWS - This week's sales
GD - Goal differential, the difference between the average week needed from last week compared to this week's sales
YTD - Units sold in 2018 so far including this week's sales
AWN - Average weekly sales needed to reach the estimate for the console.

Marginal increase for PS4 and marginal decrease in Switch sales this week. Only a couple weeks from Labo, so will be interesting to see if the Switch gets closer to its AWN for its release. Will Sony have more stock in Japan now for the new fiscal year? Might see some interesting changes in the upcoming few weeks..

I’m pretty sure PS4 hasn’t really had any stock issues for the past few weeks in Japan now

They did/do have actually, but it is not really affecting their figures by much.

M-C 2018 Switch Top 6:
1) Splatoon 2 - 426.816
2) Kirby Star Allies- 357.093
3) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 314.193
4) Super Mario Odyssey - 278.564
5) Zelda:Breath of the Wild - 167.940
6) Mario + Rabbids - 167.333

Switch HW 2018 - 684.162

M-C 2012 3DS Top 6:
1) Mario Kart 7 - 461.462
2) Super Mario 3D Land - 384.504
3) Monster Hunter 3G - 372.912
4) Resident Evil: Revelations - 244.116
5) Kingdom Hearts 3D – 213.579
6) Kid Icarus: Uprising - 179.705

3DS HW 2012 - 1.240.445

Saw this on Resetera and found it interesting.

Interesting comparison, so the Switch is almost keeping pace in (SW) sales but its effectively being doubled in HW sales...........lends credence to the idea that the Switch still has a lot in stock that a price cut can do for it (at the appropriate time). It will certainly sell more when it becomes more affordable.

So, is Switch still facing shortages?

Sure, if you believe the PSVR and X1X are facing shortages.

So you believe that PS4 has shortages because it was sold out on Amazon a little while ago but dont believe Switch does when a store is sold out of 4 different bundles?

Im sorry but this seems like a massive double standard.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Perhaps because Amazon is a massive online retailer which serves the entire country of Japan and that is only one Yodobashi Camera store and is completely useless in determining the large-scale inventory available for a console.
Have a look yourself: https://www.yodobashi.com/?word=Switch

The green "在庫あり" means it's in stock.

Also, just for fun. https://www.yodobashi.com/?word=PS4

The red "お取り寄せ" means it's out of stock.

Great 2nd week for NNK2 althought LTD is still low but if this sales will continue then it will be awesome for the series brand in Japan.

Far Cry 5 is a really a surprised. Western games are really taking a traction in Japan outselling VC 4 and NiNo Kuni II. A genre that mostly Japanese gamers would love. That's why you cannot blame other 3rd party devs. like Capcom focusing on western markets rather than on their home market and level-5/Bandai Namco with NNK2.

As for Super Robot Wars in might be declining in Japan but Bandai Namco will not continuously released it in SEA with English subtitle if it not selling well on those regions.

Kirby is eating sales! XD

So in other words, both can be found in some places but not in others which has been the case for most of the year.
