Forums - General Discussion - I've been diagnosed with tinnitus. Yay.

First I want to say I'm not seeking attention. I've found a community forum that has been helpful.

I've been meaning to introduce myself and I thought this is a good time to do that and maybe spread a positive message for anyone feeling down.

So if you're unaware of what tinnitus is...its basically a ringing in your ear that never stops. There are many different kinds...mine being the sound you hear when they say someone is thinking of you. Well someone is obsessed. My right ear has been ringing for 6 days straight and could potentially get worse but I'm optimistic...considering there is no sign of ear canal damage.

Some conditions are extreme and unnerving. There's a woman in the forum I visit that recorded the noise that literally permeates an audible pulsating sound from her ear and it's absolutely heart breaking.

So with all of that said...let me encourage you to take the time to appreciate all the small things. I'm not trying to sound dismal or overly conflicted because I'm well aware there are people with much more serious conditions ...I'm just saying be appreciative.

Live life to its fullest. Never take anything for granted. Nothings promised tomorrow. Life is a gift..and we're all lucky to be alive...

Play on.

I have it. and oh by the way, I only knew I had it when I read the word I was oblivious to it my entire life. pretty strange, I saw the word googled it, and I remembered when I closed my ears I can hear it. and now I can hear it most of the time even if I don't close my ears. unless I forget it . I don't know how to explain this but even tho its there, if I forget it its like. its not there

how bad is it for me from 1 to 10. a 1. even tho its loud. because I was oblivious to it since I was a kid I can ignore it. and i forget it for months

see right now I read the title and I can hear it again. lol. its very strange.

I'd rather not have it but. for me its not too bad at all. it would be much worse to not have it and then get it all of the sudden

I imagine a large chunk of people have it but they are oblivious to it. tho its just a guess.

This is a funny(or rather, a sad) coincidence. I just talked about this with VGPolygot today. I've been slowly developing it for a few months I think, but since yesterday it has occurred frequently.

Hello to you and welcome. I've seen you around the last while. People with selfie avatars tend to stick out. Certainly hope for the best for you and that your condition doesn't not worsen.

OMG, same with me too. If I concentrate I can hear it a constant buzz, but if I get distracted I forget about it. It has been like that since forever, and sometimes it becomes stronger, but I've never paid much attention to it. I hope this thread doesn't make me paranoid or something like that man.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

its a heavily non understood thing. its probably mental and there is no physical issue with the person.

because its strange. I never had it ,or I guess I didn't notice it until I read about it and I was like huh. when I close my ears I can hear a sound. I thought it was normal and largely just ignored it in my life

It's mental? I am pretty sure it is a result of minor ear damage of some sort. I think the headphone generation will start to notice it a little more. I don't think it is necessarily mental just because you don't notice it till someone points it out. That is in fact pretty common with a lot of things relation to the human body. But I don't know anything either, for all I know you could be right.

TBH...I have it too. Since about 10 years old. But, I assume my case is not as bad as others. There have been times when it was truly irritating, but those moments have been few and far between.
