Sea of Thieves over Ni No Kuni II is just sad.

You really thought a niche JRPG could beat a high profile western developed game in the west?  Especially given the attention SoT has received on Twitch/Mixer?  Rare is a UK company and it sold well at home.  That’s to be applauded.  I’m actually surprised Nino debuted at 3.  Not many JRPGs do that.

It ain't all that Niche. Certainly not Persona 5 breakout levels, but still.

Considering gamepass+the mediocre reviews for Sea of Thieves, I saw no reason why NNK2 can't beat it.

SoT did impressively well, considering that here on VGC it was said that 90% of people playing the game were on Free Trial of Game Pass. XD

To my knowledge that was one person saying that, I don't think most people here were stating that.

Well, considering numbers don’t lie - my reasons outweigh your biased assumptions.

Check out the SoT vs GoW sales thread.  Every other person was saying that.

Well, God of War is a much bigger title than Ni No Kuni II, so people saying that GoW would outsell it is not the same thing as saying that Ni No Kuni II would outsell it or that 90% of players would be though Game Pass. But I guess I'll take a closer look at the thread.

give a mediocre (in this case downright unfinished) game to streamers and it will sell

people worship them as if they were gods, twitch is a cesspool. but thats just my opinion.

Ni no kuni II probably sold better in UK first week than in Japan.

Mediocre reviews? Fact. Gamepass is a good deal and likely took a good chunk of sales? Fact. While numbers don't lie, my reasons are not biased.

Quite reasonable. Any normal JRPG would be 10-30 range and this one hits #3 with 2 other releases. So either it did quite well for itself or the chart has VERY low sales.

From resetera:

22,695 SoT
14,039 A Way Out

So Ni No Kuni 2 <   14,039

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
