almost everyone in this thread seem to think the 360 was the best console last gen. i only had a wii during that gen so i dont know much about the 360 but i did buy a ps3 a year ago for legend of heroes cold steel series, ni no kuni, tales of xillia and few other jrpgs that are exclusive to ps3. so what makes the 360 more special tthan the ps3 besides kinect? what games did the 360 have that werent on the ps3?

The Last Remnant, Tales of Vesperia, 3rd party games played better as well (Bayonetta, etc).  From 2005-2011ish it was my definite go to system as well.  Won't say it was underrated, it outsold the Wii in the US.  The limited Japanese/European (ex UK) sales prevented it from truly selling well.

so 360 had some games ps3 didnt have and 3rd party games run better. i heard when ff13, 13-2 and lightning returns launched those games run better on the ps3 and so did gta 5 i think. i also thought ps3 had more exclusives but interestingly 360 was the console of choice last gen. edit i just remember why i bought a ps3 last year. it was because of the yakuza series. i finished yakuza 0 on the ps4 and immediately became a fan of the series. yakuza 3,4 and 5 were exclusive to ps3

Limited EU sales? It did quite well in most of mainland Europe.

I should rephrase that, It sold well in mainland Europe, leaps and bounds above the original Xbox yes, by limited I mean not Sony home console type numbers.   Not a slight against the system.

Certainly not. Carry on

I also loved Xbox 360 when I have it, maybe ti PS3 had better exclusives at end, but IMO 360 was best console of last gen. I dont know where I would put it on list, but for me it's definitely better than OG Xbox, GC, Wii, PS3 and Xbox One.

I would definitely bought it again Xbox 360 Slim if I dont plans to buy Xbox One X sometime in future.

"The PC-like architecture meant those early EA Sports titles ran at 60fps compared to only 30 on PS3, Xbox Live meant every dedicated player had an existing friends list, and Halo meant Microsoft had the killer next-generation exclusive. And when developers demo games on PC now they do it with a 360 pad—another industry benchmark, and a critical one.In addition, Xbox 360 versions of cross-platform games were generally considered superior to their PS3 counterparts in 2006 and 2007, due in part to the difficulties of programming for the PS3."

Check Gamespot's series of Xbox 360 vs. PS3 Graphics Comparisons to see the specific examples of 360 games either looking better or performing with much better framerates.

According to this article, differences between GTA V were negligible on either console.  PS3 was given a slight edge in graphics, while 360 held a slight edge in performance:  https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/166731-gta-5-ps3-vs-xbox-360-gameplay-and-graphics-comparison

Final Fantasy XIII was in development for PS3 and then ported to 360 almost as an afterthought.  From what I read, the differences between the two were much smaller by the time of Lightning Returns.  http://gearnuke.com/lightining-returns-final-fantasy-xiii-ps3-vs-xbox-360-screenshots-comparison/

The 360 is my favorite console as well. Lots of great games, great controller. The first console that was wholly mine and not my brother's. I still have mine and intent and on keeping it forever.

Well, I can only speak for myself, but for me the main reasons I prefer 360 over PS3 were:

- More comfortable controller

- Most multiplats performed better on it

- Halo/Gears of War

X360 is my favorite console of all time, early days of XBL were glorious

Thanks to BC on XO I'm still going through my 360 backlog all while playing newer games on the same console.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Xbox 360 is a good console. PS3 is still the best 7th gen console.

Xbox 360 had paid online gaming, PS3 did it for free. PS3 had way better exclusives and more variety of games. PS3 had better looking games than Xbox 360. Still a good console though, just nowhere near 360.

The way I see it, Xbox One is a better console than 360. It has most of the good 360 games running at better framerates, some of them remastered having better resolution and graphics too. It also has games of its own not on 360 that are really good. Xbox One is just way better in terms of value.

Any generation that has multiple quality consoles will have some get lost in the shuffle. I think last generation was the most balanced removing a default dominant system the way the NES or PS2 did in their time.
