Forums - Sales Discussion - Prediction ps4 will sell 130+mill systems.

Ps4 will end at?

110mill 16 21.92%

120mill 25 34.25%

130mill 18 24.66%

140mill 7 9.59%

It will beat ps2. 7 9.59%

Total:73

It's possible if PS4 continues to sell well after the PS5 comes out or if the PS5 doesn't launch until the early 2020s.

I can't agree. The actual price at retail affects the number of units sold.  The official price is the one that doesn't matter.  And, I'm not trying to "fool" anyone.  I'm contributing to the discussion, and pointing out the stone cold fact that many units are sold for less then $299, and many that do sell at the "official" price are bundled with a game.

It was on sale for the whole xmas season at $199.  It is on sale at Target for $279 just about every other week.  It is on sale at various places at $250 pretty often.  Most units sold are now bundled with a game.  These things significantly impact the value proposition, which in turn significantly impacts sales.  If you want to ignore this stuff, that's fine.  Just know that you're deliberately ignoring relevant facts that affect the sales of PS4, and will continue to have an impact going forward.

The Only system that is at constantly on sale is the xbox one, $249.99 for the 1tb models this week and mostly all weeks you see a lot of deals on eBay. For most January the 500 Gb model was at $189.

As far as other mentioned the $199 price was only for one week and at the end only lasted for nearly 4 weeks before went sold out.

Yes, XB1 is on sale more often that PS4.  How is that relevant to this conversation?  It appears that the fanboyism is so strong on here that people are just looking for a way to peg anyone that disagrees with them as a fan of the other system.  But, the reality is that I'm staring at my DS4, waiting to finish my work so I can go pick up my copy of Far Cry 5 to bring home and play on my PS4 Pro.

And, yes, it is obvious to me that I as wrong about the length of the $199 sale.  So, I'll eat that one.  I think I was mixing it up with the PSVR sale, where the Doom package was on sale for $199 for a few weeks during the xmas season.

Where did someone do that? I think I must have missed it. And doing stuff like that is not cool at all.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

Ps4 in order to reach 130m needs to match ps2 sales in NA, assuming that it will match ps2 sales in Eu which doesn't seem  impossible.
Can it... ?

I'm thinking if the PS5 is released in 2020 (most likely), then it'll hit the 120s (low to mid, probably no more than 126).

If the PS5 is released in 2021, then it'll probably hit that 130 figure (probably no more than 133-134 at max).

i cant see 130m happening. I think 2018 this year will be its ''peak'' year as far as releases go. PS5 announcement next year will put a dent into the 130+ dream. but its still going to do over 110m as others have said. Thats a no brainer.

Hard to say right now. It all depends on PS5 release date.
If PS5 releases in 2019, then 110-115m is the maximum. If it releases in 2020 then it is possible to achieve 130m mark but it will definitely need price cuts. If PS5 is a 2021 console, then 130m is a given. But still, the problem here is that it seems that last year was PS4’s peak. I think it will sell a little bit less this year and then decline even more next year.

Why do you think last year was the peak when PS4 still hasn't had a price cut to $249? With games like God of War, RDR2 and Spider-man coming out there are still a whole bunch of PS4s to move this year, and if Sony does price cut and has enough shipments then it will easily beat last year's sales.

18-22 million sales in 2018 bringing it to 92-95 million by January 2019.

15-17 million sales in 2019 bringing it to 107-112 million by January 2020.

8-12 million sales in 2020 bringing it to 115-124 million by January 2021

6-12 million sales from 2021-2023 bringing it to 121-136 million by January 2024

Worst case it goes on to sell 125 million, best case it eclipses 140 million.

Idk but im sure the reason is better than the one you have for refusing to use the quote button.
