Factoring in the extra week doesnt change anything, Switch had a much softer Dec-Jan decline and a much softer Jan-Feb gain so its currently not following the same sales trends as 3DS in 2012.

i know it's not but i expect it to drop a bit for march, i'm thinking 240-250k for switch in march while ps4 does 340-350k.

I have no problem with those numbers, just dont think basing it on 3DS 2012 is the way to go.

You’re forgeting MLB The Show 18, which according to VGC has twice as many preorders with 9 weeks left than MHW PS4 had 1 week before release. Last year, that game spent 3 months in NPD’s top 10.

Does MLB really still push consoles? By now everyone who wanted to play MLB should have a PS4 imo. I understand that the game is selling well, just like Fifa in Europe, but also just like for that one, new releases don't really push hardware anymore since everybody interested into those games already have them.

Do you really think that new FIFA releases don’t push consoles? And that’s like saying that new CoD releases don’t push consoles because everyone interested already has one by now.

American hardware sales are very healthy.

Probably worded it wrong, what I meant was that they don't give a big push at their respective release, but instead contribute more to the baseline sales of the console.

CoD does both, but annual sports titles are more for the baseline than for short sales bursts.

Sure, Switch did ~1.6 million in its first 8 days, if Switch had an average of less than 160k/week this year it would be down YOY, but more importantly it looks like Switch will remain comfortably ahead in the near future.

Sales as of March 10 this year are ahead of sales as of April 1 last year.

Switch will be around ~3 million by March 31, whereas last year it didnt hit that number until April 29.

So even if Switch sales plummet this Spring, it will hold the lead over 2017 for a few months.
