Ah, I love seeing old goalpost slogans. Funny enough I haven't seen anyone say it's gonna bomb harder than the Gamecube.

It's kind of funny how no one brings up the N64, too. That console just exists in a weird vacuum between success and failure.

People are selective. The N64 is considered a bomb too, while it did decent considering. However when comparing, the OG Xbox sold less than that and not much better than the GCN, and is not considered a bomb generally. So yeah, people can be selective.

Its mostly because of regional differences.

N64 only saw a slight decline from SNES outside of Japan, ~27.5m vs ~32m.

However, N64 saw a huge decline from SNES in Japan, ~5.5m vs ~17m.

This combination led to it falling somewhere in the middle of good & bad on a global scale.

N64 was to PS1, what XBO is to PS4.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

That momentum. :)

that launched month certainly helps. lets see how it goes the next 12 months. it will not beat its first year thats for sure

For sure!? :D

How that can be for sure when last year Switch had huge stock problems and Switch curently in January-February that are always slow months for Switch, and with only Bayonetta in that period has 270/280k!?

Yeah, that's what I kind of figured. Especially here in America, the patriotism to the N64 is real. That's a big reason why I think N64 games tend to be looked back on more positively than most PS1 games, too.

Probably also why OG XBOX isn't considered a  .... TOTAL failure (arguably it did ok)

Gameboy Advance?

Zhuge said it didn't include handhelds. So I made the title accordingly.

This is one of those times in history when something cements a narrative that can never be changed. Switch is a console. Let's hope this continues because this now precludes any comparisons with handheld figures. There isn't any reason to believe it won't of course but I feel as if this could be a tad premature.

The PS5 Exists.

The Switch is a hybrid. That is the narrative. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah. I feel that the major news sites and trackers treats it as a Home console that can be played on  the go rather than a Hybrid (its own thing) or a handheld.

Only users here tries to push it the other way.

Edit: and its funny how there are people in the Japanese threads do think it as a handheld, while in other countries its a home console.
