Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 class action lawsuit

After a successful class action lawsuit against the PS2 and, more recently, the Vita, it seems it's the PS3's turn to get sued. Apparently, Sony has to pay $65 to PS3 "phat" owners for the feature that they cut.  If you want in, here you go:

I submitted my name last night. $65 is $65!  Personally, I'd love to see one for the Xbox One and the disabling of the "snap" function. Somebody get the ball rolling on that one!

Do not think I from Canada benefit from this.

This isn't new news. I could swear we had a thread on it already last year.

The suit began last year but now it's over and Sony lost. Now it's time to real the rewards.

The two people that began the lawsuit are supposed to get like $400,000. Everybody else gets $65 apiece. Originally, it was $55 but for some reason we get another ten bucks.

I can't blame anyone for taking free money, but the "Other OS" thing is something I never ever cared about on my PS3 - I bet most are the same.

Mine broke a few years ago, got it on 2007 but I don't even live in the US even if I bought it there. I guess I'll pass

As much as I would like the free game, I didn't buy the PS3 for that.

PS2 and Vita had lawsuits against them?

Yeah, I mean I'm sure we already had a thread about it being over and people being able to claim money. I remember people posting here about not having their receipts so they couldn't claim and stuff like that. There's even this article saying they settled in 2016 and people can now claim, so it definitely didn't begin last year if it was settled the year before that https://www.polygon.com/2016/10/12/13261780/ps3-otheros-linux-lawsuit-settlement-claims

I've learned much today.

Hell, I think I even made a thread last year but the dollar amount etc wasn't the same. I guess it depends on which article I got my info from.

*Edit* nah. Looks like I've never read an article. I just got an email a few months ago

I would not sign up for something like this, unless I bought my PS3 to be able to install Linux.

"$65 is $65", but those sums can add up to hundreds of thousands/millions, that could have been better spent on employees who actually work for the company.

From what I read, the more people claim, the less they'll pay per person. If it's more than 25,000 (which I'm sure it will be) they'll divide it into smaller amounts. $65 is the MOST people can get. It could actually be as low as a few dollars per person.
