What's the problem of talking about the current number in Twitch? he is simply pointing out that the number of views plummeted like a stone in less than 1 week!

Also, I would get the "bringing up the Twitch numbers at convenient times" if this game had weeks or months, but that does not apply when talking about 1 day out of 4.

Sea of Thieves always has higher viewers later in the day, It did in the Beta and now Final Release, I assume because the big streamers are American/UK and it's currently morning for them, we'll have an accurate picture of whether the viewers have 'plummeted like a stone' later on in the day.

It's also not the first time he's brought up numbers when they were low in an effort to make it look bad towards Sea of Thieves, even though they went straight back to being high later in the day.

Just looks to me like selective picking, waiting for the numbers to be low when the typical Sea of Thieves streamers aren't online.

1) I didnt selective pick. I was looking at it on twitch before going to bed, and it wasnt #1 then.
2) Today I checked Twitch and saw it was 4800 viewers, and then posted what I did (not selective picking)
3) I didnt know servers where down, if thats true that explains the 4800 viewers nrs.

Edit: just checked thread, cant find myself mentioning twitch viewers for it before.
You make it sounds like ive done that alot and purposefully pick times when its low.
I honestly dont, it just happend to be low when I checked today, and like I said I didnt know servers where down.

I have to admit that this is a fair point. well, let's see SoT numbers later today. Perhaps this game stills popular.

This game is no man's sky 2.0: a great nothingburger.

Yeah, no. I can’t recall Rare deliberately misleading and flat out telling lies about major features and elements of the game, so it’s a disservice to Rare to compare it to No Mans Sky imho.

Like I said leading up to release, it’s a social game like Destiny that you’ll either continue playing because of your friends or you won’t. Not surprised a lot of people aren’t digging it.

What I've seen of the game on Twitch from both single players, 2 man crews, 4-man crews is that this game lack extremely much right now.

This game released atleast 1 year to early.

2nd day and it right now has 4800 people viewing it on Twitch.
even yesterday when it launched, it had like 4-5 other titles with more viewers.

Right now Fortnite has 100k+, and league of legends like 160k.
Doesnt seem like people kept intrest.

Must depend on when you look. When I loaded up Twitch yesterday to watch some DbD it had more viewers than anything. And right now it’s top 5. I don’t think anyone expects it to maintain League and PUBG and Fortnite type numbers forever. This is how streamers work, you play something else for 1-3 days then go back to whatever your fanbase watches you for.

It will be popular for a few more days until the popular variety streamers drop it like a stone. I've seen a variety streamer pull a whooping 80k viewers which was about half of all viewers at that time.

I don't really think it's a very good streaming game. There are a lot of factors that have nothing to do with popularity that will determine if it will get viewers. If I look at Rocket League it's more than apparent. it's a very popular game that has on average 50-100k concurrent and millions of active players. Throughout the day. It's a great game to watch as an e-sport and pulls very high viewer numbers when the championship is on. But on itself it's just a terribly boring streaming game. that's why it currently sits at a mere 700 viewers.

Twitch numbers basically don't mean a single thing about success if your game isn't a good streaming experience.

Man, this might be the most depressing game for me in the last ten years.

I love pirates. I love the idea of doing co-op ship sailing and treasure hunting. I love the idea that there are supernatural elements like skellies and a kraken...

but man this game is shallow. Been watching some youtube to inform my potential purchase (had it on pre-order for $40 and felt that was too much), and quickly found that it's got maybe three days worth of content in it. Based on what I'm seeing of the full game, the beta had virtually everything I needed to see. I know I've said this all before, but it's stunning how...mediocre this game ended up being.

I'd pay $20 dollars for it. that's $20 CAD, so like $15 USD. Good idea, good base concept, no depth.

Seriously, what went wrong here?

Why is Microsoft failing so hard? Are they even trying? Sea of Thieves and Cuphead are the only exclusives to come out that I'm interested in for years....and I ended up getting Cuphead on Steam and cancelling Sea of Thieves due to a stunning lack of content or depth. Don't care about Crackdown, never been one for racing games, Halo is probably the most overrated FPS I've ever played, and Gears...okay, I like Gears, but Gears 4 was meh.

You know, I don't like to engage in hyperbole, but the Sea Of Thieves rendition of this legendary monster might just be the greatest of all time.

Whats wrong? Microsoft has never had a  great first party stable. Thats why they can never convincingly win a generation or create a lasting stable of first party to keep people coming to the console. Microsoft's best genre that they can create in house (that ive seen) are simulations (which is safe and gets boring). Microsoft has always been able to mask their bad first party by pulling out their wallet. This gen they were losing so third party were not as willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and they got exposed. Its as simple as that. They would commission and pay for exclusives and they would drop a game from first party in to have a passable year of games.

I commended Microsoft for their vigor in the first half of last  gen but I knew their lack of first party growth would come to haunt them. I never thought id see the day that their issues would become this exposed though. After their first two years, We're technically back to square one now where they are faring like they similarly to the original Xbox. Staggered sales, less games,  more power. Halo was purchased and Gears was purchased and maintained. If they couldnt make those games from scratch they must learn how to. With this said, I have faith that Phil Spencer will turn the ship around and become more first party dependent next  gen. Any normal company who has gone through what Microsoft has gone through in this industry would be out of business, but they are rich beyond measure. This reassures me that when the checkbook is opened they will do what they should with a clear  head like spencer at the helm. It sucks that we will have to wait until next gen (for the sixteen year restructuring that was waiting to happen), but thats just the case.

Same. It's such a shame because the game looks so incredible. Great art style, the waves are amazingly beautiful and realistic, and the lighting so atmospheric. The game had/has so much potential. I was looking forward to playing it as well but the lack of content is a hype killer.

It does look good. What a waste of a good art style, sadly. If there was one thing they nailed with this game it was most definitely the artstyle.
