Really Solaire just strikes me as a flavor of the month type character due to the announcement of Dark Souls on Switch with the amiibo. Same with Crash, but I still thinks he makes more sense in general.

It's so weird to be able to safely say that Crash Bandicoot has any kind of chance of getting into Smash Bros. Like, Imagine 20 years ago telling someone that Crash would go toe-to-toe with Mario in any game ever.
And at the same time, I don't really think Professor Layton would really fit into Smash. Like, Phoenix, I can kind of see, but that's only because of his inclusion in UMvC3, and how they did a good job with his moveset there. But Layton... He's an even bigger anomaly to a fighting game than Phoenix was before MvC3.

I don't think Solaire would have much of a chance of getting into Smash, but that's mainly because he doesn't really have a lot of unique moves he could do. Like, he has his sword, and his Lightning Spears, but that's really about it. If they ended up doing a lot of extrapolation, like what they did with Ness, then I could maybe see him, but it'd take a lot of explanation.

Smash Bros. was designed to be a world that represents a kid playing with toy figurines. This explains why you've got characters from all different franchises fighting each other. Kinda like when I made the Ninja Turtles fight against ghosts from Ghostbusters as a kid. When you clear the Classic mode you get a trophy that is a figurine version of your character and Master Hand represents the kid's hand playing his toys.

I honestly think that with Smash, each version has got steadily better. I loved SE but 4 was better than brawl imo, as it seemed like a culmination of all the smashes so far. A blockbuster "Best of" with barely anything removed. This is just my opinion though! All i say is...
