Sales prediction of Labo (in millions)?

<1 17 13.49%

1 12 9.52%

2 22 17.46%

3 16 12.70%

4 5 3.97%

5 16 12.70%

6 2 1.59%

7 1 0.79%

8 1 0.79%

>8 34 26.98%

Total:126

This might just be me being pessimistic, but I really don't think Labo is going to be the success that Nintendo is hoping that it will be. I'm predicting around 1 Million sales, 2 million if I'm being very optimistic. Less than 1 million if I'm being pessimistic.

If the price was around the same as the google cardboard this would be a different story, but it's not. I think it just too expensive for most people, considering what you get.

What do you think you get?

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I would say that 1m cardboard sales are pretty darn good sales. We are not on the Wii days anymore, and Nintendo knows it. Experiments like this are not expected to become the next hot thing, just to keep Nintendo in the minds of the consumers and to make some decent money.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

yea i think it will flop as well.

Cardboard and minigames. However the general public (just an assumption, based on comments on it) thinks it just the cardboard.

Still way too expensive for what it actually is.

Whereas with Switch itself I was feeling like it's either a big hit or a flop, I'm not feeling much success with this one. I kind of hope I'm wrong, but at great as it sounds, I'm just not feeling it.

Well thats where you made your first mistake. Comments about a casual/family focused product will always be negative on a "hardcore" gaming forum.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

ok, but you must define, what is a flop. Nintendo Labo is a really niche thing, so i dont think it is expected to sell that much. Nintendo is keeping iut really separate from their main line of games, that's why you will never see a nintendo labo peripheral for a mainstream game. Price wise, it's not that much really. Clearly you never bougth kids toys lately if you think the thing is overprice. a small lego set is around 50$ in canada. heck, last week i went to a disney on ice show, and for 65$ i got two mugs, a cheap plastic crown, cotton candy and a popcorn. my 89$ invested in the variety kit will get me much more for my money...

But, especially with the nintendo garage, which allow you to create your own labo contraptions, and program different things, it migth get the attention of schools at some point. I think it might be the poiint of the thing actually.

and remember that the target audience is not all switch owners., i preorder mine, because i have two kids that i hope will be thrill to build and draw on the thing, but i wouldnt have order it just to myself.

So prediction wise, i say it will sell less than a million, by the end of the year i expectg around 500k units, but i dont think nintendo will see that number as a flop.

I hope it flops.
Dont like the idea of shovelware minigames + cardboard = tons of profits.

I rather see them working on "real" games instead.

*edit: I get this is the casual/family type of deal, just.... meh, couldnt they made a real game that fit that market instead?

Would 1 or 2 million really be a flop though? I can't see it costing much to develop/produce so that should be a pretty nice profit if it can sell that well.

Well, that's more of a problem with the word flop. Just because something makes money back doesn't mean people don't consider it a flop. Anything that does way less than people were expecting in terms of sales figures is automatically considered a "flop". 1-2 mil for a peripheral is pretty bad. But considering Nintendo probably made profit on Wii U ... I would not be surprised if they made lots of money off selling 2 million pieces of cardboard (this is what haters actually think Labo is, btw)
