I think the releases for Nintendo this year have been far too dry. Not sure if they were expecting more 3rd party support by now but I think that's going to hurt them a bit. Smash in 2018 is pretty great and will definitely push some systems but it seemed like practically everything else in the Direct was a port. They should really just halt 3DS game production and get all their dev teams on Switch games cause it's a desert other than indies for the most part.

It was always going to be a challenge to keep up the releases. Keep in mind that Nintendo had to halt WiiU development in order to have a strong launch for the Switch. Now they’ve gone 3.5 months between major releases.

If they can be this close without major releases, while competition is having it, image when it actually starts getting big games? You’re right, it will outsell everything else.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Xbox one broke 300k I think that's the best February to date. The ps4 is a beast tho

I was expecting another NS win, I guess MHW made it's thing on feb rather than march

This is fairly sad to read through if I'm honest, no one should be that obsessed with a piece of hardware failing to sell, unless you've got shares in every rival company you should really reconsider time spent on your hobby.

Pretty cool to see all 3 machines selling healthy numbers in the states though, nothing like competition to make sure that us gamers get the Best

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Using Ryng Tolu's estimates for Jan/Feb, here are the YTD numbers rounded to the nearest 5k.

PS4, ~620k (up from ~610k)
NSW, ~550k
XBO, ~545k (up from ~370k)

All 3 are doing great. PS4 is pretty stable, X model and promotions are giving XBO a strong increase and Switch had a solid first Jan/Feb.

Looks like its going to be a very good year for the console industry.

Yep, its sad that we have a month where all 3 did very good and somehow people are having petty fights.

The PS4 beating the Switch by so much in the U.S. likely means it battered everything else world-wide.

I also saw someone say the Xbox One broke 300k sales? That would put the Switch at no less than 273k and the PS4 at no less than 355k.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

But it's a fantastic game and deserves success. It was wasted on the Wii U.

#8millioncopiesisawaste

8 million is good but take a look at the previous 3 Mario Kart titles.

Mario Kart DS (2005)-23.60 million

Mario Kart Wii (2008)-37.02 million

Mario Kart 7 (2011)-16.76 million

Mario Kart 8 (2014)-8.40 million

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (2017)-7.33 million

It sold well but much less than it should have, the fact that its updated port is going to outsell the original in less than a year is proof of that.
