Seems like the PS4 is not giving up that 2:1 sales ratio over the XBox huh?
This entire gen and that ratio never shifted one bit, um I think next gen is going to be even harder for the XB brand. It’s clear at this point that MS can’t make any effective adjustments to better compete with Sony.
Last gen at this point the PS3 had already begun to flip the script.

Weekly? It used to be 3:1, not long ago. Adjustments to better compete? You bet. They released the X, Play Anywhere, Game Pass, and two big exclusives just two months apart, right before E3. M$ is turnin' this sumbitch around. So, there.

Xbox usually loses 3:1 to PS4 for the whole year. They just make up for it at the end of the year during holiday sales when they lose 1,5:1. So seeing the 2:1 ratio in February is already an improvement. Also if I’m not mistaken it is the best beginning of the year for MS this gen maybe except 2014 when console just released.

You have to file in the US & Canada?

Yeah, I live in Canada and have Canadian citizenship, but since I have American citizenship too I also have to file there.

And let me guess, next to nothing you could copy/paste to make it easier to you, right?

Yeah man, the main reason the 360 was able to beat the PS3 was because Sony shot itself in the foot so bad with, we all know, "$599"...you could basically get a 360 and a Wii with that price, but even then they managed to turn the ship around and that was only possible due to the strength the PS brand has worldwide.

Provided Sony doesn´t fuck up again, and with Microsoft´s apparent growing disinterest in the Xbox brand as we know it, how will things play out for both of them?

No it is not, at least it isn't on the German site. Besides, if it were that would be odd because they have been very low (consistently out of the top 10 and ranging from top 20-40 and 40-60 range mostly through Q1. If they are out of stock, then that would be a supply issue. That is the only way I can explain being out of stock despite being low in the best seller rankings. Check the PS4 ranking for monthlies in 2018 and compare them with the respective months in 2017 and you will see what I mean. There is definitely a trend there.......no way from those trends is the PS4 doubling the Switch in Sales in Europe as current VGChartz figures suggest.

Unless of course Amazon isn’t representative of actual sales. We know Amazon US isn’t. Same thing with software. Bayonetta 2 is the best 5th best selling game in February on Amazon UK. We know it didn’t do very well though.

So, if you’re deducing that VGC’s numbers are incorrect based on Amazon then that would likely be incorrect.

Amazon US is certainly representative of sales, its just not in absolute terms........and there is a technique to interpreting the chart. There is a reason why Amazon US is followed and statistically correct in predicting the NPD winner 85% of the time.

Note that my point isnt that the Switch is selling more than the PS4, it is simply that based on Amazon trends, the current ratio of PS4 to Switch cannot be correct and that I expect to see a correction in the future.

How would you know what the ratios are based on amazon rankings? Just based on the ranks, the Switch should be way ahead of the PS4 in sales in January and yet it was not. And keep in mind that Amazon does not represent the whole market.

I’m glad Xbox does better in US. Despite being a Playstation man, I think competition drives market forward. I just hope MS will invest more in first party exclusives going forward. This only way to keep numbers up. Sony is nailing it at the moment but only because near failure with ps3. I’m telling ya, the best for us is Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo head to head.

Which countries did you look at?

Nintendo has done well in the bigger and richer countries like France, Germany, UK so they may be competitve there but historically they havent done nearly as well in the smaller or poorer countries.

This site has the big 3 European countries making up about 65% of European Switch sales while they only make up about 50% for PS4.

So technically this is the best start of the year that the xbox one has ever had globally. If Microsoft ends up releasing a bunch of exclusives in the fall it could maybe have one of its best years. I'm very surprised to see this .
