Who the bloody hell doesn’t already own a PS4? lol

Me lol i was going to get one last year but waited for the Switch presentation and it won me over.

Im hoping for a $199 PS4 Super Slim next year and ill definitely get one.

I actually will be tempted to get one too if the prices drop to £150. Never owned a PS and it would be an opportunity to play TLOU and some of the Uncharted games.

Ooh a boost for XBO! I wonder if Microsoft will consider making that $50 price drop permanent, and apply it to other regions too, see if it'll do them any good.

PS4 still on top as expected, although the sales are normalising in Japan, the Monster Hunter wave only lasts so long!

Right now, Amazon is out of stock on the Xbox One S 500GB, but a lot of resellers are offering it for around $237. I don't know if this is a new MSRP, or if they are getting rid of inventory. Something's afoot.

What exactly is your reasoning though?

Mostly from following Amazon trends. That is also what makes it tricky because the percentage of the Amazon market isn't really clear. But relative to last year, the PS4 hasn't done as well in France, Germany and Spain on Amazon in Q1 2018 (A quick analysis of monthlies for the first 3 months of both years illustrate this). I find it hard to conclude that the trend on Amazon isn't really being repeated elsewhere with other things holding steady.

Amazon trends - there’s the issue. We know from the Amazon US thread that the ranks are not representative of the sales. Btw, do you have the links for the monthlies for the European sites? How did you get them?

It's possible I suppose, but hasn't VGC been rather close with its PS4 estimates whenever Sony announces an official sold-through number?

That is true, the PS4 has been a relatively steady beast for at least the past 2 years. That is also precisely why it will take a while for a change in the trends to be picked up. It is important to note that the PS4 is approaching saturation plus the Switch didn't exist in 2016 and its effect is just starting to bed in. Those 2 factors will start having an increasing impact which will only pick up through 2018. I think I am already seeing the effects on Amazon.

It is a theory anyway, Sony's next update should shed more light on this.

The Switch didn’t have any impact on the PS4 sales last year so not sure why it would have any this year. You’re right about market saturation though.

I believe they had a $50 price cut on all S model bundles for the last 2 weeks of February.

This. Xbox One S was discounted from February 18 to March 3 in the US. It was also discounted in Canada by $60 CAD.

I could be wrong, but I think this is the second XBO-S price cut since Christmas. I really wish I would have had the foresight to keep a running tab on these temporary XBO/XBO-S price reductions, but it's happened a LOT.

It seems like a random time to have a sales discount.

From Shadow's February Amazon thread, click on the link referencing a particular country Amazon site,  click on the Bestseller Archive links on the right, (its in the same place the US site's is) and then edit the URL as appropriate in the Address bar (where you see the Year). For example February 2017 would be 2017-02 and February 2018 would be 2018-02.

Got it. But it seems that the PS4 is out of stock on all EU Amazon sites.
