^ this.
Not sure why russia is always made out to be the bad guy / boogeyman.

If the news was about americans being behinde a "hit" of some double agent, the comments in the forum would most likely be like "glad they got him" ect.

Not if it was a double agent that retired 10 years ago and his daughter.  (I had the impression that the daughter was also specifically targeted, or was she collateral damage?)

I mean I don't even know how you square "why are they saying russia is a bad guy" with "well of course it's obvious russia did it, the whole point was to make a horrible example of him".  You make Putin sound like a mob boss.

The thing is its not just Russia that does acts like these.

Im pretty sure the USA has done lots of them too, they just arrange for accidents / stuff that can be explained away.
Why is russia the bad guy, if isreal/usa/france/UK ect all do the same thing?

Is it the fact that they did it in such a obvious manner? is it better if its not done in a obvious manner?

Regardless of how justified or normal Russia's assertiveness is, its still detrimental to the interests and well being of the west. If, for instance, a nerve agent hit had taken place in your neighborhood and incapicated your fellow neighbors/first responders and resulted in the quarantine of your street, would you really be acting reaponsibly by shrugging and saying "eh I don't see a reason to worry, surely our government has also done this before right?"

Russia is just like the USA, but with less money to cause trouble with. There's no big war coming, as there's nothing to gain. They'll continue to meddle in the middle east and eastern Europe, and that'll be the extent of it.

It's all speculation if we are talking about clandestine murders, but I think it's completely unwarranted to presume that other countries do it to people who have been "out of the game" for years and years.  What's the point of going after someone who was a spy 10 years ago and is just a random citizen now?  There's no point except to send a message.  What's the point of doing it in secret, so that no one gets the message?  No point at all.

Russia acts like a thug.  And a lot of their defenders, when faced with the indefensible, say, "So what?—everyone does it."  No.  Not everyone does it.  Russia does it.

Russia is just a leftwing boogeyman. I realize that's not a popular thing to say on here on this site. But that's the way I see it.

I also concur with Final Fan, Russia wont start WW3 or a massive war, if anything it will be us, the united states, who instigates the start of it

Tell that to Mitt Romney, the UK, Trump (following the UK incident), US intelligence agencies, Putin's dead enemies.

People on the left might exaggerate Russia, but they are no boogeyman.

actually there is, He was in WWE and he was pretty damn scary

Nah, Russia's military power isn't even close to that of the United States.

Don't be obtuse, you don't need to be #1 to burn down the world.

The OP asked if it was closer than North Korea or the United States, if I were to rank them it'd be this:

1. United States

2. Russia

3. North Korea

At the power level of the USA, Russia, and some others, which one is "more powerful" has little to do with "likelihood of causing a massive war".  Did you really need me to tell you that?

The US  is involved much more with world affairs than Russia is too, bombing numerous countries and having military bases all over the world.
