Fire Emblem: Three Houses released late in the month, but debuted in the charts regardless, pushing out the two games that were previously tied at rank 20 (1-2-Switch, Picross S). Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order was only added by two members; what can be partly at fault here is that many people think of MUA3 as third party game when it actually isn't one. The Picross series saw another entry on short notice, but the Kadokawa license (Overlord) didn't motivate anyone to take the plunge; or maybe it's just that Fire Emblem: Three Houses took priority.

August sees the release of the anticipated new IP Astral Chain.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

I'll be picking up my pre-order of Fire Emblem Three Houses tomorrow.

Also picked up a truly terrible version of Wheel of Fortune/Jeopardy today that I will be trading right back in tomorrow. So no idea how you will count that.

I count game ownership, so games that get traded in, sold or gifted to someone else will be removed from your tally. Since you got rid of the trash so fast, I didn't have to add it to the spreadsheet to begin with.

Fire emblem three houses...anyone got my data BTW?

There are hyperlinks to the Google spreadsheet in the first and second post of this thread as well as in every monthly summary (see post above). You can view it anytime to go over your own stats as well as everybody else's.

Since you didn't specify whether your copy of Fire Emblem is physical or digital, I added it as digital until further notice.

Your stats:

First party - 4 physical (ARMS, Kirby, Zelda, Splatoon), 3 digital (Fire Emblem, Kart, Odyssey)
Third party - 1 physical, 7 digital

I still fail to understand how Bayonetta 2 is a first party IP. This is why I noted it in the third party IP. It belongs to Sega. The trademark is shown below and until it passes over to Nintendo that will wont change.

I got today:

Digital:

Doom
Doom II
Doom III

Physical:

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Three of those should go in the third party category. Congrats on getting Fire Emblem.

Bayonetta is a Sega IP and trademark, but they have to share the copyright for the games Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 3 with Nintendo, because Nintendo has funded those games. Because Nintendo has the copyright, neither Bayonetta 2 or Bayonetta 3 will appear on non-Nintendo platforms. Last year Sega ported Bayonetta 1 to the PC, but they can't do more than that.

Nintendo may not own Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 3 in their entirety, but they get to decide which platforms the games can appear on.

This thread counts Bayonetta 1 as third party game, but Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 3 are counted as first party due to the different legal circumstances.

It gets a little confusing, but Rol and I use slightly different rules for our threads. So there will be some games that are third party for my purposes and first party for Rol's.
