Yeah, that I'm sure. "Storm" is so underwhelming when compared to last year's song.

as if UK could win regardless of the quality of their song

They definitely could. Portugal isn't part of a voting bloc either, but despite that they managed to get the highest score of all time last year.

You don't think France is going to be in the top 10?! And what about Hungary? Both imo will finnish top 5.

This year is very hard to predict. There are a lot of songs that could get a lot of points, but nothing stands out. The French song will likely get in the top 15, but I'm not sure if they could make it to the top 10. The song isn't as memorable as some of the others, so they may not get that many points from the televote. But of course, a lot will depend on their delivery on stage.

Hungary is my personal favorite, but I'm not sure if it will do well. The jury seems to prefer very safe pop songs (like Sweden and Australia send every year), so they probably won't get a lot of jury points. Hopefully the televote will get them to the final, but I strongly doubt they'll end up in the top five.

Estonia trying to emulate Croatia from last year singing in Italian, I don't know if it'll work for them but the performance is good, at least in the video. Germany might finally leave the bottom of the rankings but I don't think they'll win, their singer is good but lyrics and the rimes don't strike much. Israel's song is so dorky it hurts, the problem is it's purposefully dorky but still comes out as bad :/

As for my country, Italy, I like the message of the song and enjoy the shift from last year but I still fear the problem is that we don't perform as well as we're supposed to on the stage, last year Gabbani had one of his worst performances of the song during the final, I hope it doesn't happen again with this song, I still feel like as long as we sing in italian (which we should keep doing) we won't get as much attention as other competitors

No idea who's gonna win the Eurovision Song Contest. I haven't heard any songs that will take part. I usually hear those songs for the first time on the very evening of the final and that's it.

I'm surprised this contest is still relevant. I mean the winning song you hear during the contest and usually never hear it again. I NEVER even once heard again that Portuguese song that won last year. Don't even remember how it goes.

Really who actually cares which crappy European pop song wins this ridicilous festival.

Well, the last two winners weren't crappy pop songs. They weren't even pop songs.

They where both crappy though, especially Ukraine. The standard electronic drum and base alone made the song crap. I could congrat Portugal for using actual Instruments, though the number is way to soft for my liking.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

It's a jazz song in Portuguese, do you seriously expect radios to play it? The popularity of the contest is stronger than ever thanks to the reduction of joke entries and other factors.

The 2 previous winners are still very relevant in their home countries unlike the last 2 Swedish winners who are completely snobbed by Sweden nowadays.

Also 1944 is an excellent song, my favourite winner of all time.

Haven't listened to any, except our own. I like to be surprised. Our, the Dutch, song is decent I must say. The guy is the male part of the duo that would have won a couple years ago but lost because there was some woman from Austria with a beard. Anyway, he'll get to the final again this time, but I doubt he'll win.

And you're right, it is fun to watch even if most of it's usually pretty weird.

Two hours left until the first semi-final!

My prediction for SF1:

  1. Cyprus
  2. Estonia
  3. Israel
  4. Bulgaria
  5. Greece
  6. Czech Republic
  7. Austria
  8. Azerbaijan
  9. Finland
  10. Lithuania

  11. Belgium
  12. Armenia
  13. Croatia
  14. Ireland
  15. Switzerland
  16. Belarus
  17. Albania
  18. Macedonia
  19. Iceland

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Well, Azerbaijan thought it’s best to start off with a typical Eurovision song it seems.
