Pretty sure the Wii was the fastest selling during launch year over all genre of consoles WW. So by beating the Wii it is probably beating all the handhleds also.

I guess you don't understand PR spin. Nintendo held the record for best-selling Nintendo home console before Switch already, so Switch didn't add any new feather to Nintendo's cap in that regard.

If Switch were the best-selling Nintendo console overall, then the PR would have used that, because that sounds better than limiting a record to home consoles.

So you're saying that this record is only for Nintendo consoles?

yes, afaik we have data saying the PS4 sold 1.1m in 11month in Ger

and Nintendo handhelds (especially the GBA or 3DS, afaik DS didn't start too hot) might have done better aswell

I see. Well, in the case of handhelds, Switch is a $300.00 hybrid, so it's not really fair to compare it to the cheap, dedicated handhelds of the past.

The highlighted portion means as much as "Wii held the record of the best-selling Nintendo home console through the first twelve months." That's the record Switch has broken.

It's similar wording to Nintendo of America's press release that called Switch the best-selling home gaming system in the USA through the first ten months. NoA's wording deliberately excluded Nintendo handhelds because the GBA is the overall record holder in the USA through the specified timeframe.

So Switch sold better than Wii.. ps1-4 and xbox in the first 10 month in the us?

But in germany it only sold better than any Nintendo homeconsole ever?
