Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy VII Remake Progress Revealed! & Square Enix is hiring!

"As it stands, the development team are currently in the brainstorming phase of creating a world of Final Fantasy VII fitting for modern times"

This isn't good. I would rather have the normal FFVII world. Everything else is as expected for SE, we still need KH3 this year.

At this point I would rather the game was delayed until the PS5. That way at least the game wont be held back from hardware constraints like FFXV was.

this is just sad tbh

Yeah, they are announcing games waaaay too early. Either that or they are massively under staffed.

Wasn't that originally designed for PS3 before development moved to PS4? I hardly think it was held back by hardware. Unless that's what you meant, is that FFVIIR should do the same thing?

We all know how a very delayed game ends up:

1. Not even close to expectations, probably dated, with a lot of problems

2. Cancelled

This kinda pisses me off. Why did they even announce it when they did with videos and everything? It's like your dad walking in and saying "Son, I'm taking you to Disneyland!" when you never even asked him to.

And he doesn't even have a job.

And he's wanted for murder.

How's this going to be a PS4 title?

It would be long overdue, that is, if they had a schedule and planning.

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

And if they please decide to make a PS4 or PS5 FF 9 remake they can just do a team to do redo the polygon mapping, textures and rework the CGIs, don't touch the rest and deliver it in 6 months on a small team.

Meaning: I want the same game, only prettier.

Because they're Square and they do this every damn time.

It's symptomatic of a larger problem with Sony. They were able to steal the show at E3 2015 with FFVII Remake, Shenmue 3, No Man's Sky, Horizon:ZD, and the Last Guardian.

TLG was a relaunch of a game originally promised to PS3 owners. FFVII has yet to materialize, nearly 3 years late. Shenmue 3 was a kick-starter, also yet to materialize. Fans felt horribly let down and misled by No Man's Sky. Horizon was the only game released in a reasonable time frame that was also well received.

I don't know how many people are actually excited for Days Gone, but they've used considerable main stage time demoing that over the past few industry events, and now that's been pushed back to 2019.

There are obviously lots of great games to play on PS4 regardless, but I'm watching their events with a lot of skepticism now.
