So glad to see this happening.

 

Hey Fortnite Community,

We’re happy to announce today that in partnership with our friends at Microsoft, Fortnite will feature cross-play, cross-progression, and cross-purchase, between Xbox One, PC, Mac, iOS and (in the next few months) Android.

Contrary to what may have been implied, Microsoft has long been a leading voice in supporting cross-platform play, connecting players across PC, mobile and all consoles. We’ve been working together with them over the last several months to make this possible, and will bring this functionality to Fortnite players on Xbox right along with other platforms.

and PS4/Mac/iOS/PC....... (the PS4 crossplay one just didnt mention xbox)

So the only 2 platforms not able to play this game together will be PS4's and Xbox One's.

Is the PS4 going to do crossplay? I didn't see anything about it.

Where did you see that? (for the PS4 part).

Other than a mistake they made (enabling it briefly), there is no mention of being able to play with the PS4 from any other platform.

....has 'long' been? ...Don't kid yourself Epic, I know you're partnering with MS now so you have to say nice things but we all know MS has only started this gen when MS has not been performing as well in sales as they'd hope. (coincidently? lol) ...unless 'long been' refers to like a year after this gen started? (4yrs ago?)

I'm all for cross play and its great what Epic's doing but no need to twist it a little.

P.S. Fornite players on PC will destroy everyone else but we all knew that :D

So this is why the made 60FPS options on console.

Other developers need to take notice.

The 360 actually had crossplay early on. But they pulled back while the 360 was thriving.

Meanwhile Sony was open to it during PS2 and maybe even PS3, but pulled back with PS4.

Frankly, I wish both companies would stop impeding crossplay between consoles but right now Sony is the problem. Consumers want and it makes the online experience better for consumers.

I have 2 fortnite accs, pc and XB1, would have appreciated this from the jump.

Anyway, as I went from pc to XB I noticed a big difference in gameplay, due to the keyboard/mouse cornballs i mean combo. Since I always used an xb contoller, I started dominating a lot more on console. So I don't welcome the pc players TBH also there should be a separate 30fps lobby, no mixing there either for obvious reasons.
