It already made more money on it opening weekend in China (almost $65 million) then The Last Jedi made in its entire run in China ($42 million). Its pretty much guaranteed to make over $1.3 billion world wide already.

That's a little more than Thor made. So, if sales continue like that film, I'm guessing we should see ~$150M from China.

If it does $150 million in China I'm guessing it will make a bit over $1.4 million world wide.

Hmm....I don't know. It's far exceeded anything I expected. I think it, depending on China, has a shot to catch the TLJ.

I think it's almost guaranteed to pass TLJ at the DBO at this point. FBO is going to be a tall order, though, the DBO might be enough to make up for it. Either way, it's still probably going to end up only ~$100M  or so behind, which is pretty bad for TLJ considering it's part of largest film franchise ever and what it should have done (~$750M+ DBO and ~$1.7B+ WW).

So...Rian Johnson is getting fired?

Lol. Seriously, he should be.  I mean if BP, a standalone Marvel film, can get within striking distance to it WW, even passing it at the DBO, and Avengers:IW and JW2 end up passing it, obviously he failed to make a movie that pleased fans.  To give him free reign over the future of the franchise would be insanity in my opinion.

I knew I'd see you talking about TLJ here.

Black Panther has just passed $570M ($570.9M) at the DBO and $1.1B WW. It is currently $52.5M away from entering the Top 5 for the DBO. And $170M away from entering the Top 10 for WW.

I don't know. I think $1.4B (Don't worry, I know that's what you meant. ) is going to be a little out of reach. Currently, it is outpacing Avengers by 8.3% at the DBO. If that holds to the end of its run, it'll end at $675.1M. Right now, FBO represents 48.4% of its WW take. Even if that increases to 50%, WW would be $1.35B.  I think that's the best case scenario. Though, the FBO legs may surprise me.

And?

Black Panther is only 230 million behind TLJ. It really may catch it.

In his defense, we brought it up.

So, is the movie any good?

Ranks up there with Marvel's best.  It has a few flaws with CGI in a couple places and a less than impressive final 1 on 1 fight but they are easily overlooked thanks to great casting, story and writing.

What’s Marvel’s best btw?

If its over $1.2 billion by Monday than its pretty much guaranteed to finish over $1.4 billion by the time its theatrical run is done.
