Forums - General Discussion - Need some help on 2D game programming...

OK, well, LOL, first of all, what program should I use to actually make the 2D game? (Allegro etc..) I will be asking more questions later, when I actually start programming the game..

I heard making a replica of Tetris was the easiest thing to do, am I right?

I am not sure exactly what type of game is the easiest to make. I am interested in making games with some friends, but have no programming experience. Sorry... But if you want an idea or two I can help with that.

Oh OK thanks and uh, one question, what program should I use to make 2D game sprites? I heard Allegro was good..

well, I found an app., but you have to pay for the full version, and also, you have to know how to code a little.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... ^ I already know how to code

Well I don't!

SMG, I've got to be honest. In your last thread, you were asking for help for the random number generator, and you mentioned that 57 lines of code was a massive amount. I have a program that only does some basic shape drawing that is well over 300 lines of code.

I'm getting the distinct impression that your own estimation has far exceeded your actual programming abilities. I'll point out the 2 biggest issues I noted;

You never used any if else statements, which would have made your program more efficient, and also would have meant you'd have only needed 2 if statements instead of 3, since if a number isn't greater than another, and it isn't equal to it, it's going to have to be less than it.

You didn't use any loops. You have 57 lines in there, and 80% of it is from you copying and pasting the if statements 3 times. Where you would have been able to save a lot of space just by setting up a quick loop.

Generally, you came across as just not having a large enough knowledge base to be able to take on a game, even one of low level complexity. I could be wrong though. Do you know how to use Functions? Classes? Loops?

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!
