What is Sony's biggest Mistake?

Forums - Sony Discussion - What is Sony's biggest Mistake?

Having way too high costs for production for its products.
Mismanagement.
Till 2001 Sony ruled the consumer electronics world.
Then Samsung took over in a crushing way.
Sony is just a shadow of its former self.
There are even electro shops in Japan that dont even sell any Sony product any more.

PS3 is the one... the cost didn't made they strongholds and profits...

ND didn't had the rights to Crash as far as I know...

And about PSVita proprietary memory card... that is just people either being silly or inventing excuses to not do things, like a 50 USD MC would prevent me from buying something I really want...

PSN is a huge disaster and one reason why I don’t buy playstations anymore. My ps3 was hacked 4 years ago and approximately $20 of credit was stolen from me. The thief bought a bunch of Just Cause 2 DLC and even got Achievements under my name I’m assuming to rub it in my face he was able to hack me. I don’t even own the game. So I called customer service and after much communication and a few calls, Sony refunded my credit BUT explicitly told me it was a one time gesture and if I was hacked again, there would nothing they could do for me. I was like, wait a sec, I didn’t give out my password - it’s your poor security’s fault. Why do I have a strike against me? After googling other hacked PSN users, I learned it’s quite easy to assume someone’s gamertag and retrieve personal information. This was a huge red flag for me so I decided to never patronize Sony again. It wasn’t a big deal for me as I’ve always preferred Xbox and Nintendo anyway. Playstation exclusives don’t really interest me as they tend to focus on japanese anime games and story heavy games. 2 genres I don’t care much for.

I would have never guessed you don't like Sony if you didn't say so.

PS3 bar none. I can't imagine the finantial hole that console created for Sony. If it wasn't for the PSP success that generation mitigating the loses somewhat...

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Come join The 2018 Obscure Game Monthly Review Thread.

Probably the PS3, it costs them billions. Then the Vita memory cards.

But in the end their bad decisions on PS3 lead them to focus on great exclusives (and tons of work on game engines in order to make better looking games) and the creation of the PS4, being developer friendly and also greatly benefited of their past experience on game engines.

They still haven't recovered from their Vita mistakes though.

PS3.

It ended their percieved invincibility.

I LOVE ICELAND!

PS3 launch price. It was the single reason Sony lost me as a customer (one that owned both PS1 & PS2 previously), and others I'm sure as well.

PS3 at $599 US dollars. Made it inaccessible for many, including me, for quite a while.

I'd also say the 2010 hack thing.

PS3.

But their mistake is what made them better today.

Ps3 launch cost them Billions and almost ruined the games division. Crash exclusivity comes no where close to that. Also, the PSN outage needs to be added to the list.
