Interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if they did do that in correlation with Smash Switch.

If this is their holiday release, then I wonder how that might affect the likelihood of it being a port...
A port come Christmas might not give them the holiday buzz they want...
They better start making more GameCube controllers...

Sure if they immediately started on the new game, but they made dlc up until 2016. That's most likely why despite it having been the normal timeframe of 3 years between Mario Karts, we got MK8D instead of MK9. They might still be able to frame it as a sequel though if there's enough new content, but expect it to be clearly using Smash Wii U as a base, much like Splatoon 2 uses the original.

Splatoon had DLC didn't stop them making a new game, DLC doesn't mean the whole studio is working on it.

Honest question: if this is the Wii U and 3DS game, why are people going so crazy? I mean, most of us played the game (I haven’t) or have seen it countless times. I hope it’s new, but even if it’s not I’m still buying it.
