Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii/PS3/360: Which one has the nicest design?

Perosnally I think that the Wii doesn't look too good at the moment, but I imagine a black one would look pretty good, from what I've seen of people modding their Wiis. They've tried to go for the iPod look, and IMO failed. xBox 360, how anyone could put this above last is above me. From the front, on the side it looks like a Dell compuer, especially the Elite. http://hosp2a.up.seesaa.net/image/Xbox2036020Black.jpg http://www.pcrent.co.kr/shop/upload/goods/a93437_dell-gx280.jpg Overall the PS3 is the best design, albeit with a couple of flaws. A) it scratches too easily when moved, although if it stays in one positon it's not too bad. B) It's too big. However all these people complaining about the size of it are oblivious to the fact it is a media centre. Therefore you have no need for a stereo (PS3 can do 7.1 surround sound), DVD player, Blu-Ray player, any computer in the room and a previous PS2. So overall, it doesn't take up much room.

I don't think my Wii looks that great, it resembles an external DVD drive for a computer, especially when it's on its side. However, it's tiny size means that it's unobtrusive, which I greatly appreciate. When it comes to 360 vs PS3, I'd have to vote PS3. A huge box like the 360 shouldn't be white. The black 360 Elite isn't bad, but I wouldn't call it an inspired design.

I think the Xbox 360 has the worst design. It feels lower quality, it's extremely loud, and it just unattractive. The PS3 has great design if not for the size. It resonates with quality and makes you feel confident that it won't break. It's fairly attractive, although a little foreman-ish. The Wii obviously has the simplest design, and simple design is sexy. I don't think it's design can be compared to that of the PS3 because the boxes serve such vastly differing purposes. However, it is clear that both Nintendo and Sony are far more interested in quality than Microsoft and that is further evidenced by the high 360 failure rates.

I don't understand how just because a PS3 looks like a grill, means it looks ugly. Just because something looks like something else, doesn't necessarily make it look ugly. I mean, grills don't look ugly, do they? And besides that, if the PS3 didn't have that oval shape to it, nobody would ever think that it looked like a grill. In fact, I don't think the PS3, even with its oval shape, looks anything like a grill.

Never thought, or even heard of an Xbox 360 looking like a Dell CPU before. Is a Dell CPU ugly, because it looks like an Xbox 360, or an Xbox 360 ugly, because it looks like a Dell CPU? Is a Dell CPU even ugly?

I guess the Wii doesn't look like anything else. Well, actually, it does. It looks like a stand-alone DVD player, when placed horizontally. Uh-oh, I guess the Wii is ugly now, because it looks like something else.

You should look at a console for what it is, not for what it looks like. I think all the consoles have a unique look to them. I mean, they all could look a lot uglier than they are right now, and they could all look a lot nicer than they are right now. But overall, I think they all look pretty nice.

Well, grills are not known for being hi-tech.

Dell is well known for their commodity oem designs

The problem is really more with size than form.  Both are too large, making associations with the multi-purpose PCs easier than single purpose (game console) devices.  People really associate the next gen form factor being smaller yet more powerful (cell phones).  The reference previous gen was the thin-ps2 (or at worst the classic PS2) which both the 360 and the ps3 were larger than.

Wii engenders reminder of the Mac Mini, which was generally praised for its design.  But the design isn't that brilliant, but the compactness of the design makes it more pleasing than the behemoths that it's peered to in this gen.

Wii looks the best, the design is simple, slim and compact. PS3 looks quite okie. I like the shinny surface but the current one really need to lose some fat as it's too round. I think a PS3-lite can look very nice xbox360 looks nice when stand up. But looks strange horizontally. But unlike ps3 and xbox360, Wii has the advantage because it can be a lot smaller and doesn't need to worry too much about cooling.

I blame my roommates, they toss their phones and somtimes even keys on top of it (it's on top of a mini fridge by the TV). The paint is chipped off in spots :/

i like the wii design the best, but the PS3 has presence in a room.

I think the wii looks the best. It's sleek, shiny, and looks cool. The ps3 tried to make it look like a god and failed. It still looks awesome, but not as much as the wii, basic but cool. The Xbox 360 doesn't look the best, but it looks cool. All you have to admit that Xbox 360 wins biggest improvement in design compared to its predessor, the Xbox.

Wii - Looks the best. There is something about simple, compact, white, and shiny that I really love. Xbox 360 - Looks pretty good to me after getting used to it. I used to think it was ugly, but after a while, I really like it. I agree the 4 quadrant controller lights are cool and I am just really liking white right now. PS3 - I agree with some that it's just too big, but that has nothing to do with it's look. It's look is atrocious on it's own

Wow, many people really think that the PS3 is ugly.
