Forums - Gaming Discussion - Can Monster Hunter World see a Switch release?

Can they make it happen?

Yes 15 27.27%

No 27 49.09%

Maybe 13 23.64%

Total:55

Honestly, no.

Not in a manner that holds up to the original. I'm thinking of it in the same way Borderlands 2 was released on the Vita. Yes, they can put the whole content there, but with serious performance issues and graphical downgrades. At wich point, it really doesn't put the original release in good light and just looks like a cash grab.

Definitely would like to see this game come to the Switch

Interesting. There's even an outside company interested in taking the job. I'd actually like to see them try. And having MHW on the Switch would be pretty cool. Probably..

There is probably a lot of interested companies. Porting is a business itself, even with multiplatform releases there have been many instances of different companies doing certain platforms.

Even though that could be the count, not many companies publicly say these sort of things, or at least I don't see this often, not like how Adam Boyes did here.

We have the developers themselves saying that the game started development long before the Switch was announced. I call that a proof.

Not really, they wanted to keep it off of Nintendo regardless if it was the Wii U, 3DS or whatever platform they put out on the future.

The leak said it excluded Nintendo but never specified any platforms so its talking about Nintendo as a whole, when you think about what that means... they didnt wanted any sort of port to any Ninty stystem not even a smaller variant of the game on the 3Ds like what Nino Kuni and Dragon Quest did, and obviously that would include any new Ninty console (like the Switch).

And that is probably because they wanted that japanese market for themselves which is pretty obvious when you see that they have an exclusivity contract for japan, and thats considering that the only other console that has the game is the Xbox One... let that sink in... they have a contract to exclude the X1 from the Japanese market of MHW, a console that present no threat to them in that country and they still went the extra mile to exclude it with a contract.

Anyways practically everything in the leak became true and the only thing we cant be 100% sure about is the whole "excluding Nintendo thing" since we have no way to prove it, so at the end of the day the only thing we can do is wait and see if it ever comes out on the Switch.

Read the article I linked to you. It's written black on white. This is official. Some ominous leak is not official, no matter how many items of it became true or not.

Even more, in that same article Capcom says that they don't have any plans for MHW on the Switch at the moment. Which breaks your fishy exclusivity deal. And why is Xbox not a part of that deal?

I'm not even complaining. I'm not even looking for a Switch port since I could buy the game easily on the PS4 already. I'm just wondering why you would like to cling to hearsay and wishywashy instead of facts.

I know its official, im just not buying it because it sounds like the typical PR spin, afterall if they did something like that exclusion deal i doubt they can just outright say it since it would obviously turn into a shitstorm.

Because

A) They do have an exclusivity deal in japan (the games biggest market)

B) Unlike Nintendo the Xbox is not a threat for the PS4 when it comes to this japanese oriented games.

Its ok i get it that i sound crazy but Im simply very skeptical after all of that came true, and i dont fully trust what the devs say because it wouldnt be the first time devs or companies have lied to the public, and as i said before a shitstorm would ensue if they said that the exclusion deal actually exist.

After playing both Xenoblade Chron 2 and MonHun World.

It's possible it can be done but a lot of the 3D models particle effects will have to be considerably dialled back.

But might end up like FFXV is between switch/mobile vs PS4/XB1/PC

Yep, on top of that, there are a bunch of studios that pretty much only port games.
