Makes sense. Until the sales of the Switch don't start to drop below certain levels, there's no reason to add more models. I wonder which peripherals are they talking about. A headset with official voicechat support? Labo? The Vitality Sensor?...

Labo is one example mentioned in article, there will definatly be some controls peripherals/addons, also this is very intresting "could also include additional network-related features and peripherals to be attached to its USB Type-C port"

Yes, awesome news. The switch should always stay a hybrid. No Switch mini or xl or anything should happen. It will only over complicate things.

For people who are clamoring for a smaller sized, more portable experience, or budget handheld for the kids, the 3DS is for you. And once the 3DS gets discontinued, the Switch will already be budget enough for kids.

No need for a portable-only "switch".

News ways to play and more peripherals are the way to go.

This article talks only about this years plans, not that Nintendo dont plans any Switch revisions, Mini or XL, offcourse that we will have some kind of Switch revisions in future. There is nothing complicated about wider offer of Switch platform.

3DS has price point from $80 to $200 and probably will be discounted in around year, there is no way that Switch will have price point below $250 in around year, not to mention, lower price point like $150.

No there is no need for portable-only Switch, but its smart to offer wider offer and lower price point for Switch platform (look at 3DS price point example) instead having only one Switch hardware.

.

The 3DS just had its best month in three years in the US. Its still has a big user base. The new pokemon games shipped 7.17 million in less than two months. No doubt 3DS is on the wane, but it still has quite a bit of juice left. Its not getting discontinued at least till the end of 2019.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I think this is the last year the 3Ds has relevant sales. Maybe we see holidays next year a cheaper Switch without a dock included (and maybe 2020 - or as soon as the PS5 arrives - a dock with additional power for TV console users).

Nintendo has been of controller modifications for a while. I'm thinking something along the lines of a modified joy con. Or something to replace it in whole. To get a better guess.. lI would pay attention to what the consensus of Slwitch owners is when it comes to the joy con. I'm not an owner myself..but I've heard multiple accounts of disapproval for button placement.

I know Nintendo is aware of the critical acclaim for MSs controllers design...and I'm sure they would like to have that acclaim as their own... considering the amount of effort put into Nintendos peripherals.

Don't care for either. I want software.

Indeed. That's what matters most.

Also, I don't think there's really a need for any sort of revision at the moment. The Switch as is well designed overall. It's not like the original DS, which begged for one, or the 3DS, which should have had a 2nd joystick from the start.

Though I should admit I did buy a tablet arm for my Switch. Thankfully, I can use that for my phone and stuff as well.

Peripherals aren't so bad as long as they're optional.

Yeah, that is true.. though aren't some of those peripherals made from 3rd parties?

Yes but a peripheral is a peripheral.

I got called a WSJ in the politics section for saying Trump was an imbecile.
