Did the report give a specific date of when it passed 1 million?

Nintendo France CEO only said "we sold above 1 million units last week" and the newspaper was published this monday morning, so it's arround february 15.

It's quicker than PS4 by the way, which reached 1 million unit sold in 13 months

according to vgchartz its on the track by the end of the feb, maybe you should ask them whats going on.

Read the bottom line of the article, it's said "Lavoué spoke with French newspaper Le Figaro in a recent interview and revealed that sales for the Nintendo Switch had surpassed one million units in France as of last week."

I think because in january, Nintendo France CEO said that the Switch sold 911 000 units in 2017 and he expects it will reach 1 million by the end of february, and the article mixed up both interview.

We know data come into nintendo  at the end of the week, so it could be as of the 18 or 25, who knows. it is quicker then ps4, but i would say because it was sold out right away during it's first holiday, not exactly a proper comparison.

nice to see that PS4 is still leading in the world.

Not sure if im understanding you, are you saying Switch won because its the cheapest of the 3?

Nope. I'm just saying that since the PS4 and the XB1 compete in the same market (unlike the Switch), and since we're talking about the US were the XB is still relevant (unlike the rest of the world), at this point of the cicle the cheapest console (between PS4 or XB1) probably benefits more from the release of important multiplatform games. This is not the case in Europe. Here the XB brand is weaker then ever, so even though MHW is still a multiplatform game and the PS4 is slightly more expensive than the XB1, you see good PS4 sales and poor xbox sales. So basically the Switch "won" Jan NPD simply thanks to the xbox strenght in the USA. In other markets were the ps brand is more powerful, mainly for historical reasons, the PS4 doesn't have a strong competition and it just draws in all the customers interested in non-Nintendo games, so to speak. But I'm just stating the obvious here...I think.

What I find interesting, however, is that if we compare the two markets ("Nintendo experience" vs "PS/Xbox experience") in both the USA and Europe, we have a 1:2 ratio. I wonder if it'll stay the same in the following weeks...now that switch stock issues are basically gone and sales are more stable and uninflated by weird events, I'm curious to see how the "nintendo experience" compares to the "mainstream experience" outside of Japan.

You're right, it's pointless to debat whether the 1 million mark was reached last week or 2 weeks ago.

And also, it's "than", not "then" (it keeps bothering me)

Are you autistic? I am and it bothers me too although Americans do use then instead of than. It’s still infuriating.

You think digital makes up more than 50% of sales? Dood... come on! Digital usually averages around 35% in the west and 15% in Japan. There are exceptions of course, but in the majority of cases physical definitely does make up more than half of total sales.

Funny cause I've heard in several occasions that digital has taken over physical, but I don't know the exact figures though.

On PC by now digital is comfortably in the lead. On consoles physical is still in the lead, but digital is getting stronger. MHWorld showed an incredible increase in digital, but still not 50%. Also different console ecosystems have different digital ratios. So, if you include PC digital might be around 50% or above, if you only look at consoles digital is still below that.
