Ever heard of Michael Bloomberg? But yeah I don't see why it would be better for rich capitalists to lobby to disarm the common person.

Privilege at whose authority? The bourgeoisie and the nation-state they control? I am not lacking literacy here, I just am thinking through the implications of handing authority over this matter to the capitalist state. Apparently you are not. 

 

When gun-ownership is not socially protected the people lack the means to affirm their will outside of the rigged political process. You might feel comfortable with your country's well-off controlling your access to guns, I am not.

 

I am assuming you are a reformist though, which has so many  practical problems one might as well call oneself  social democrat or left-liberal.

First National Bank of Omaha on Thursday pledged to stop issuing an NRA-branded Visa card. A bank spokesperson said "customer feedback" prompted a review of its partnership with the NRA, and it chose not to renew its current contract.

There was also a wave of car rental outfits. Enterprise Holdings, which runs the Enterprise, Alamo and National car rental groups, announced that it will end the discount deal it has with the NRA on March 26.

On Friday, car rental company Hertz (HTZ) said in a tweet that it's also ending its NRA rental car discount program.

I think the government wants us to lose our gun rights. That way as soon as they can they will have total control of us. Only reason we have any freedom in America is due to guns. There are ways to handle this, sometimes when I see how easy it is to get a gun I laugh. Just fix the laws.

You already have massive limitations in terms of gun rights, just not as many as other countries.



Right, because the NRA is to blame for the mass shooting in FL last week, not:

-The deranged psychopath himself, who has a long, LONG history of violent outbursts and behavioral issues that were so bad he was not only kicked out of multiple schools but also outright banned from the campus of the school he eventually shot up and was NOT ALLOWED TO CARRY A BACKPACK ON CAMPUS!!!

-The incompetence of local law enforcement, who had been called to the shooter's house dozens of times over the last several years for violence / behavioral issues, yet nothing substantial was ever done about it, and who had an armed deputy posted inside the school AS THE SHOOTING WAS HAPPENING and instead left the building to take cover outside and did nothing to stop the shooter or save the lives of students being shot like fish in a barrel inside.  But hey... the local Sheriff who was busy grandstanding at CNN's townhall circus show this past week and who blames the NRA (who else?!?) for the shooting still thinks his men did an "amazing job!" in their followups with Cruz and response to the shooting:

-The even bigger incompetence of the FBI, who had received multiple tips and warnings about the threat that Nicholas Cruz posed to both himself (he was suicidal in the past) and others with his numerous posts on social media claiming he wants to be a school shooter someday, yet they never followed up on any of these leads.  And because of the incompetence above with following up on any red flags on Cruz, background checks on him were now useless because he was never flagged in the system to begin with.

I'm not a fan of the NRA, but I support their right as an organization to lobby and fight for gun owners' rights, even though I think they are at the very least tone deaf in the aftermath of mass tragedies like the one last week.  But just out of curiosity... how many people do you know out there that are currently banned from entering school grounds with a backpack for fear they might do something like oh, I don't know... bring a gun to campus and shoot up the school???

Instead of demonizing gun owners / 2A supporters and using the NRA as your personal scapegoat the way the Sheriff and so many others on the Democrat / liberal side of the aisle have done over the past week and a half, how about focusing on the colossal failures of government officials from the top down to protect our kids and enforce laws that are already on the books?  Instead of making a bunch of new "feel-good" laws like an "assault weapons ban"-  which BTW we had in the 90s and yet mass shootings like Columbine (13 killed without the need for an AR-15) and the DC sniper incidents (carried out with an AR-15 variant designed to be "legal" under the assault weapons ban) were still able to take place, let's take steps to implement meaningful solutions that not only focus on keeping guns out of the hands of people like Cruz, but also focus on removing people like Cruz from the general public where they can no longer be a threat to others.

You want to know what is interesting about the links you provided.  It took multiple people to perform those murders.  Lets say in the first link where 33 people were killed by 4 knife wielding assailants, but instead each one had an AR 15 what do you think the death toll would be.  Instead of 33 we would see hundreds.  Its just the order of magnitude which is where you are missing the point.  No one is saying bad people cannot find ways to kill.  The difference in America is that Bad people have a very easy time acquiring weapons where one person can kill and wound like they were 4.

You might not be comfortable with limitations, but being part of society is not about ou feeling comfortable but to form a society that best benefits the people as a whole and i described in the unalienable rights that the declaration of independence describes: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

This phrase supercedes your right to bear arms any day. What society is about is finding this balance, even when individuals feel uncomfortable with the changes or who is in charge to enact them.

And what is your solution to having some kind of regulations in society if you don´t trust the government to do it?
