Forums - Politics Discussion - Earth is rapidly greening because of CO2 fertilization (NASA study)

I'm pretty sure I raised this in a thread a while back. Crop yields have the potential to be higher but increased temperatures could destroy existing crops. Studies suggested raising crops to a higher altitude to get the best of both worlds. Interesting stuff.

Also interesting is that the island nations such as Tuvalu that were supposed to be basically underwater by now are actually growing in size. Scientists were 'shocked' to find that they didn't actually understand how land masses work.

I still think electric cars and other such future technologies are awesome. My concerns are two fold: firstly that coal and oil will be demonised to be point were the developed world will drive itself into poverty and the developing world will go all but extinct, and secondly that developing nations with try to use the UN as a lever to get 'reparations' from those of us in the developed world. A kind of global socialism (a really bad idea).

Aren’t we pass the point of doom already? Thought it was too late to fix now, hence all these billionaires investing in “space X” programs making sure they get a seat off this doomed rock.
Feel bad for all them people out there with children, their adult life will literally be impossible due to their habit being utterly ruined.

Would this be an inconvenient truth for Al Gore?

Al Gore has been saying that the Earth will get hotter, so this actually supports what he says, right?

Global warming may have one or two positive effects, but these won't prevent all the negative stuff from happening.

Of course it make sense. Now the question is, how much does it affect oceans? How does it counteract deforestation? Does it mean that global CO2 absorption in carbon cycle increased and by how much? All I know that at least one thing is certain. This will be most definitely used as an argument by many, for the benefits of global warming. Just wait till Alex Jones will tell you that climate change is good for you ... and it won't turn you gay.

Great then let's go back to fully polluting again since it's doing good to the planet.
Honestly we don't deserve a clean world when I hear people denying all the shit we are doing with human activity.

Al Gore has done nothing but spread bullshit propaganda about the affects of global warming, one of the biggest danger to his own cause. The less people hear from that moron the better.

It makes me really sad if you really believe that huge pile...

Since people seemingly are unable to thing further than their own doorstep it’s probably better if we end it all rather soon we’ve than later.

We clearly don’t deserve to live on this planet. Just look at the OP.

Um am I missing something here? I feel it is common sense that the plants are reaping the benefits of a warming planet.
But what about animals?

Less space to live on, because of riseing sea levels.
More extreme weather, more floods, droughts, tornadoes/hurricanes at verious times.

Feels wrong to portray global warming as something good.

Not sure why the truth would make you sad, Al Gore is full of bullshit.

He pretty much explains why earth is a long way from runaway greenhouse warming like Venus is and also explains the benefit that CO2 emissions bring in such as higher crop yields so I guess ~1000 ppm of CO2 is ideal for plant life ... (need to at least double the CO2 concentration)

Sure, there are probably some doom-mongerers that spread horror stories about how we'll turn to Venus if we don't stop (we won't in the next several dozens of millions of years), but that has never been the threat from climate change. Besides, ideal for plant life doesn't mean ideal for human life, or life overall.
