It helps that Nintendo didn't release a home console in Gen 8.

Monster Hunter is selling great, no doubt about that but it is kinda sad that this is the first 2 million seller on a PS home console since 2006.

For reference, Nintendo home consoles have had 10 games sell over 2 million in the same time frame.

Actually if look from point that needed hole 4 years to take down a Wii U game, it doesn't look impressive, but when we look only pure MH sales numbers, MH sale numbers are very impressive.

Was the margin 1:10 before 2006 too?

Home consoles have obviously declined, but it is possible Sony's share has changed for better or for worse (more likely) since then.

Pretty impressive. I wonder how the Vita would have done with a MH game. It's a beast over there and one of the biggest draws for the PSP.
