Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu: Monster Hunter Digital estimate is up! ( 652,614) Japan only. Updated with Feb. DD sales

Insane sales. Everybody doubted the ps4 but it now has the best selling home console game of gen 8 beating splatoon. BTW today amazon Japan ran out of stock again. Digital sales in February will be high.

Such beautiful sales. I can not wait for digital to break the 50% barrier so we can have a strong chance of at least an optional digital only SKU.

Hope Monster Hunter continues to have strong legs, and push PS4 sales.

Now, just imagine a PS4 Portable + MHW in Japan!!!!!

Just curious, but why need the option of a digital only SKU?  What would the benefit of that over using a regular SKU and only buy digital games?

1. It can cause bad relationships with their retailers (especially Gamestop) because they wouldn't want to carry them in stock if it doesn't help bring customers to come back and buy their games.

2. It'll cost more to manufacture a separate looking SKU just for digital only

3. I highly doubt they'll sell a digital only SKU cheaper than the regular SKU.  They'll probably sell it at the same price but itll include a slightly larger hard drive.

I say if we get a digital only SKU then at least wait til the games are actually significantly cheaper than the physical.  I see games on PSN that are the exact same price as the physical, if not, more.

OT: Great numbers! Capcom will definitely now continue having this series on home consoles.

What's the highest ever digital selling game and what's the most mh previously sold digitally in Japan?

Holy! We totally underestimated this gme

There were at least 3 members I saw who nailed it. One of whom made a thread on the topic where he was roundly mocked.

I knew that MHW would beat million copies but even I had doubts. I never expected so much new people to buy this game.

So... wait for a day that will never come?

Yea pretty much xD

I'm really enjoying the game so far. First time getting into a MH game (I have MH3U on 3DS, but I never got past the first couple missions), so I'm going in mostly blind, and I haven't read much online material to avoid spoilers.

I must say the game had quite the learning curve, as I had no idea really what type of game this actually was. I never imagined a single monster to take 20 minutes of constant hammer blows to the face and still manage to limp around.

Just yesterday I finished a mission with only 3 seconds left. The timer was down to just 3 minutes, and I saw the monster retreat to it's nest, so I knew it was time to capture it, but I didn't have any shock traps with me. I didn't need to capture it to complete the mission, but I wanted to, so I took a gamble and went back to my base for a shock trap.

I took me the full 3 minutes to navigate through the map and reach the nest, and as soon as I laid the shock trap the mission ended, and for a second I thought I failed, but then realized I won. It was a very satisfying victory.

The same thing ended up almost happening a second time, but I completed with still a couple minutes left. This is because I tend to wander around the map gathering and exploring, neglecting the mission.

Anyways, super fun game; haven't played a single mission online yet.

This game will outsell GTA5 and hit 100 billion copies!

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

That's insane. It also means that Japan accounted for over 1/3 of the 6 million shipped copies.

40% was pretty much already confirmed by Capcom b4 this.

OT: simply insane, I will gladly eat my crow, because this crow tastes good.
