Nobody gives a fuck about launch aligned. What matters is what system is selling hotter NOW than its competitors.

Was this really necessary? Lighten up.

CGI you kill me.  Goodnight VGC.  Going to sleep now. Catch ya later.

In fact, we don't ACTUALLY know the winner in the ps2/DS fight cause its that fucking close and we don't know how much DSs have sold after 2012.

Yes we do, Nintendo's official shipment data has DS at 154.02 million.

Curse you, I wanted to be the one to tell him he's wrong.

if we compare ps4 2014, to switch 2017, ps4 easily wins, and thats withs switch getting a launch boost, and the majority of there big franchises.

PS4 shipments 2014-15.4 million

NSW shipments 2017-14.86 million

Ah, yes such a massive difference. Also its launch month was the equivalent of a regular quarter so there is no advantage for either of them.

PS4 had a ton of big hits by the end of 2014. 2 Call of Duty, 2 Assassin's Creed, 2 Madden, 2 FIFA, 2 NBA, MLB, WWE, Destiny, Watch Dogs, Grand Theft Auto, Far Cry, Last of Us, InFamous, Killzone, DriveClub, Wolfenstein, Evil Within, Dragon Age, Shadow of Mordor, etc.

Lets not pretend like Switch had a hundred mega sellers while PS4 had table scraps.

Cod ghost was really bad and advanced warfare was meh.

from the list only GTA V, Destiny and Fifa were truly helped to boost the sales of the Ps4.

The evil within, Dragon Age, Shadow of Mordor, Killzone, Wolfenstein and Driveclub? Really?

ps4 announced sold through  numbers, it puts them them at 14.5 million, while switch we don't know, probably around 12.5-13 million, and you are comparing  yearly franchises to nintendo once in generation type games  , nintendo doesn't have that kind of third party support which is exactly my point.

All CoDs are bland shooters, so that's a moot point. Especially in the face of the sales it got.

Yes, they did. Just like the other titles you mockingly listed did.

What makes you think that?

> Nintendo themselves said they want a longer cycle with Switch

> They actually managed to do it with 3DS (look, it actually still matches Xbox One on its 7th year), so you can't simply disregard what they said

> Wii had a huge gimmick, Switch hasn't. Portable factor is not temporary like motion controls

> They can want a longer cycle, but will they be able to do it?

> It will be the 7th year for the 3DS, but is not even at 80 millions already.

> Wii had a great library also, not only the gimmick, 2 zelda games? 2 super mario galaxy games? New super mario bros Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl and all of the other great games it had?

> Yes, they will. It only depends on them, and both 3DS is there to show it. Since 2015 people are saying it's doing to die next year because of this and that, but here it is.

> Yeah,  not even at 80m, but that's close enough, isn't it? It's like 75% of the way to the 100m, and Switch is tracking ahead of it and Nintendo expects 20m shipped this year, which is miles ahead of what 3DS ever accomplished in a year. So yeah, thanks for confirming my point.

> Define "great". Are we talking about quality, quantity or meaningful titles that can help the system sell? All those games you mentioned are on Switch or are coming to it in the future. I mean, two Zeldas on Wii, yeah? They sold, combined, 11m on it. BotW is at 6.7m on Switch alone after 9 months of the market and still has great legs, so it will very likely outsell both TP and SS combined. Actually, BotW is tracking WAY ahead of TP right now. 2 Galaxy games? Great, since Odyssey came out this early, Nintendo will probably release another one in 3 years or so. Btw, both Galaxies combined did about 18m, Odyssey did 9m on its first 2 months. ^^.  2D Mario is a given on Switch as is Super Smash Bros. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 already outsold Xenoblade Chronicles on its first quarter. So far, Nintendo's main games are doing better on Switch than Wii. And they didn't stop creating new IPs like Arms and unconventional stuff like Labo and 1-2-Switch. Their offering, so far, is better both quality wise and sales wise. If that's your point why it will faint quickly, it's no use. Also, don't forget that since this is their only console, they have all teams supporting it. Which means it will get consoles games and handheld games as well (Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, etc.).

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

He's so clueless on this subject that he said Switch got most of its big guns in 2017. I mean... Zelda was never one of Nintendo's biggest franchises. It actually sold around 5m per entry, they have lots of games that usually do 10m+. Super Mario Odyssey is a 3D Mario, which is not as big as 2D Mario. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is "niche", Fire Emblem Warriors and Pokkén Tournament are spin offs and Arms is a new franchise. Splatoon was also not among Nintendo's biggest franchises, but I can see it becoming one of them on Switch. The only thing you could say released last year that is one of Nintendo's biggest guns is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which is a port btw (meaning they could release another one in some years).

So there's still 2D Mario, Animal Crossing, Pokémon (at least 2 games), Super Smash Bros., and probably a new Mario Kart to come. Not to mention new stuff like Labo that can really take off like Wii Fit, for example. Plus, second versions of games like Mario and Zelda.

we been over this again, and no i'm not clueless at all. the 4 big games released this year will outsell  the 4 games you mentioned easily, never mind that they hit the jackpot with zelda, and 3d mario. its also telling you only have 4 more franchises to list, basically nintendo released half its big franchises in one year.

Are you seriously suggesting that each of these games:

Breath of the Wild
Super Mario Odyssey
Splatoon 2
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

will sell more than EVERY ONE of these games? And not just sell more, but easily sell more?

2D Mario
Pokémon (!!!)
Animal Crossing
Super Smash Bros.

I mean, if you think that BotW, Odyssey, Splatoon 2, and MK8D are all going to sell over 16 million copies, then your entire viewpoint makes no sense at all. Huge software numbers would easily imply huge hardware sales as well.
