Forums - Movies & TV - Black Panther Shatters Box Office Projections

Seems to be dropping quite quickly now, just as fast as TLJ (and the SW movie, on the daily comparison, will have quite a few good days on its second and third week because of the holidays) though we'll see yet how the next days end up. Yet it's still likely another 1 billion superhero movie, as long as foreign gross doesn't fall below 40% or so.

Are you trying to stir things up or be contrarian?

This is a real fine movie, I think it's one of the best comic book adaptation out there, since dark knight trilogy this is the best I have seen

Don't forget Logan: that is probably my favorite with the Dark Knight trilogy.

Black Panther truly was a breath of fresh air.

Well you can't miss a marvel movie, nonetheless great performance, hopefully it puts the myth that a black lead decreases sales potential to a rest and we see more genuine black superheroes movies than let's say fantastic four's desperate attempt for diversity.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

2nd largest 2nd weekend in box office history (only The Force Awakens is higher), $108 million for weekend no.2. Boom.

It's good to be King.

At this point, I'm curious to see how Infinity War does.

Before last weekend, I'd have assumed it was a shoe-in for the highest Marvel movie of the year, but 400 million in 10 days is a feat only 2 movies in HISTORY has done before today, besting even The Avengers.

I'm not complaining, but I genuinely have no idea where the MCU goes from here in terms of performance.

I just saw it last night, and it was quite good. Not a bunch of winks to the camera like most Marvel movies these days. (There were a few, but not too many) It was sold out in the first two showings, so I had to wait for the third one to see it, and they only had seats left in the front row. Must still be very popular in my area, at least

Been trying to go to the movie all week, but it's always sold out!

I saw the movie yesterday, and it is great

If it's as good as BP and Thor: Ragnarok, I think it'll be absolutely massive.

Next (3rd) Week will show the course at the box office for the following weeks. If Black Panther stays as strong as it is I could easily see it becoming the highest-grossing movie in the MCU so far. Infinity War really need to ramp up it's game to keep up with the Panther
