Oh god, I hope a rogue black hole passes by and swallows the Earth, just to give this thread the ending it deserves.

Why? The topic itself is innocuous.

Ah, hello Mr. Stoppable. It's a big mess. We've got the op omitting 2 games ( Flower PS4 , and Rayman Legends XBO) counting a game twice ( Bayonetta 2 ), and 3 games ( Steamworld: Heist, Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, and Celeste ) available on the PS4, which either don't have enough reviews to have a metacritic score at all, or have a sub-90 score due to the combination of a having an unequal number of reviews contributing to it's score, as well as platform specific sites handing out different scores. Celeste is also out on the XBO. Comparing meta-scores for the same game released on multiple platforms is often fraught with such incongruities, and the op being less than meticulous with his list only made things worse. In spite of all that, and some of the obvious confusion it's generated, it's been a fairly fun, which is the essence of a a good thread. :)

Curious that you claim that those 3 games on the Switch are also on the PS4, but completely ignore the fact that Rayman Legends is also on the Switch. Those 3 games also didn't release on the PS4 in its first year, which is the whole point of this topic. They're also better on the Switch because of the portability.

He's not counting a game twice: Bayonetta 1 & 2 for $60 is worth 90% and Bayonetta 2 as a standalone (cheaper) game is worth 91%. Can you count? That's two different games.

There's something curious here alright.

I'm way off, on most of that. Geez. Sleep is more important than ever. Apparently.

It's quite clear that the Switch has much better games in its first year than the PS4.

Why? both platforms have 2 95+ MC games. It's more about the personal preferences. It's far away from clear... I would like to hear your reason why the switch line up is so much better?

Well done and all, but 4 of those games are ports.

No it ain't. The 84 is for the digital download for the FIRST game. The first game is vastly inferior to the 2nd( I do like it's really odd aesthetic though). The 90 is for the collection of both games on Switch physically. Bayonetta 2 standalone is at a 92 on Switch.

Disagree.

Bayonetta 2's combat was toned down to the point where you could die, replay, and still walk away with a Gold or Platinum medal. It also didn't have anywhere near the amount of secrets, unlockables or easter eggs that the original had.

Always believed that it was viewed so highly mainly due to it being a Nintendo exclusive.

I agree I played both, but I completed bayonetta 1 multiple times even tried to plat all missions on normal (which is hard) and hard (which is very hard). Yet I did not feel that urge during the second part, which also had a terrible story. The first story was  also pretty bad, but it had at least some fun moments. As for combat I like the first better, I like the weapons from the first part better and which time was much more important in the first part then the second part to get those insane combos necessary for that sweet, sweet platinum.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking with that post. Easily the stupidest post I've ever made. But counting Bayonetta 2 twice because of two different purchasing options is dubious. And please don't come at me with shit like "can you count?"

Yeah the second Bayonetta (the Bayo collection) shouldn't be there

Sorry but that is bullocks the combat in B2 is well above the original to the point you actually have to use a variety of weapons to achieve Platinum in different missions it also has far more combat tech in it, in B1 you could go the whole game using one set of weapons and get pure platinum just fine because combat and weapons weren't balanced in B2 you have to actually make an effort to utilise other weapons this is why a number of high level B1 players would run into a wall in certain B2 missions. It did have the same amount of unlockables and secrets that's just plain untrue.

The way people bow and scrape at the altar of metacritic will never not be hilarious to me.
