none among that list of games is appealing to me.. except maybe The Last of Us Remastered.

I wouldn't call most of these games the same ol' thing.

Well ... as someone who actually does get tired of those pointless Switch threads that repeat what's been said a million times before just to gloat endlessly about a console ... this is actually a pretty meaningful statistic.

First of all, it means that the Switch already has more games that are beloved than the PS4 did in the same time frame. This already puts it at a comfortable spot for those wondering whether or not a first year Switch purchase is right for them. Secondly, having more "quality" games than your competitor is always going to be an important point no matter the circumstance, so I honestly don't see why you think it would be any different in this scenario. Third, think about the implications of this. If Nintendo try even a little bit to keep up some momentum with 90+ games, they will either end the generation near PS4's total amount or even beating it. Simpleton is right here, if someone starts and beats their competitor early than it's a game of catch up for the competitor. PS4 will be hard to beat due to it's tremendous third party support, but Switch is having a good start.

Of course, part of this isn't due to the Switch. Celeste, Steamworld Heist and Shovel Knight, for instance, aren't really products of the Switch's 1st year. The Switch just happened to launch when those titles were already made or closed to finish. But then again, neither are many other games on the PS4's list.

No offense intended but it honestly seems like you're more upset by the result shown than the logic leading to it ... because a list like this is honestly pretty logical. Sure, it comes from a place of bias most likely, but then again so does almost every thread on this site regarding positive news console manufacturers.

Disputable. I'd argue sales are a much greater indicator of something being "beloved" than metacritic scores. Not only are some of those games incredibly niche, but I'm sure there's people that think of them as absolute trash. For starters in that list there's Fez with a user score of only 6.3, sure user scores don't mean much but when there's that much of a difference between user score and critic score there's got to be questions asked about how "beloved" it actually is.

I'm pretty sure Fez has such a low user score because the developer has a less than stellar reputation of being an asshole to his customer base. I think he called people stupid for buying his game at one point. If you look up "Phil Fish is an asshole" you'll probably find some interesting reads.

What about 85+ games?

Well done and all, but 4 of those games are ports.

Was going to ask: Aren't you jumping the gun a bit on Bayonetta 1 and 2? Then I go to metacritic and Bayonetta is already down to 84. So yes. The answer is yes.

No it ain't. The 84 is for the digital download for the FIRST game. The first game is vastly inferior to the 2nd( I do like it's really odd aesthetic though). The 90 is for the collection of both games on Switch physically. Bayonetta 2 standalone is at a 92 on Switch.

Disagree.

Bayonetta 2's combat was toned down to the point where you could die, replay, and still walk away with a Gold or Platinum medal. It also didn't have anywhere near the amount of secrets, unlockables or easter eggs that the original had.

Always believed that it was viewed so highly mainly due to it being a Nintendo exclusive.

Nothing wrong with having opinions. I for one never saw the appeal of GTA outside of the sandbox mechanic, and with so many open world sandboxes on the market the only thing GTA does differently is show a half-assed story about criminals. Of course, that's just my opinion, as tens of millions of gamers seen to like GTAV.

Azuren your not alone in that way of thinking atleast.

I was only joking. It's just that the lists encompass a pretty wide selection of genres. It's kind weird that only 1 might interest a person.

Also I share your opinion on gta. I've never bought a gta game, but I've played a lot of them with friends.

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

It's quite clear that the Switch has much better games in its first year than the PS4.
