Forums - Gaming Discussion - GPU prices more than double as cryptocurrency craze accelerates

If this doesn't cool down or manufacturing adapt soon, I wonder what effect it'll have on PS5 and XB4. I know mining is more geared toward the high end, but even a few more dollars per part could have consequences.

Its silly. They shoudl just invest in the dedicated hardware for it. So much faster.

I expect an eventual divergence that will produce gaming- and mining-specific cards; it only makes sense to segment, optimize, and charge a premium.

Ye great time to invest in console gsming. Getting so cheap.

You dont know that. The day we die it will probably still be around.

Nothing lasts forever either, unless it's made of a material that decays far slower than others.

When we die this will still be around

When we die, it won't matter.

When your life comes to an end, it won't matter for one, and for another, you'll never know the eventuality of it being around or not.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

The point is obvious. It ain't going away anytime soon.

Good there are no GPUs worth buying right now.

This.

Nvidia will be bringing out new cards soon anyway.
This is more or less a solved problem.

RAM pricing, now that is worrying stuff.

I can't wait to see the bubble pop, and all those who invested into the mining process losing it all.

Good thing I bought my 1080ti when I did, as well as still having my GTX 980/680 cards too.

The bubble popped recently but it's stabilising again. It will grow gradually again though. This ain't going away anytime soon

Bitcoin pretty stable from January 16 to 29, but that didn't stop it from losing 30% of its value in the span of a week. the general trend is still downwards.

Good thing I don't want to bother with building a rig any time soon. Not till Intel sorts out that Architecture issue with new iterations. So at this point it just sucks for those who really want to build something right now.

Oh man I can just hear the echoing sadness of those snob PC gamers. They've taken such a huge blow one after the other.
