However, this behavior from the studio is not good.

Why? for answering a question bluntly?

I was never a fan of port begging but this... This made me HATE IT

Wow, that might actually be the worst comment so far. When was that comment made?

About 4 days ago or something like that.

Years of development and it only sold 100K on Steam. Probably sold less on consoles. A game like Steamworld Dig 2 sold at least ten times as much on the Switch as on Steam.

Saying the developers aren't losing out when they just pissed off their biggest market (for games like that) is insane.

Ah, so now we're solely down to playing the "Switch>everyone else" argument. That won't bode too well tbh. But since you're a Switch only owner, I can see why you'd resort to that kind of argument.

"their biggest market".

yeah, you keep thinking that your system is the dominator of all other platforms, while mobile rakes in ten times the amount the Switch could make.

A Hat in Time is not on mobile and no one would buy it for € 30.

I resort to that argument because it's reality. These kind of games sell far better on Switch than on other platforms. Numerous indie developers have already confirmed this. Steamworld Dig 2 already sold over 500K on Switch alone, that's insane for a game like that! Celeste also sold best on Switch.

Mobile is a platform that is floated with many developers, only a few are able to succeed. Why would you even compare it to the Switch revenue-wise? The type of games that succeed on mobile are also very different to console games.

It's perfectly fine for them not to want their game on Switch, or perhaps not be able to bring it (referring to the talk about Unreal Engine 3 in this thread earlier), and it's also perfectly fine for them to be tired of the question.

What I don't think is perfectly fine is giving rude, dismissive responses to fans asking for it from their official game account. People keep bringing up Kamiya, as if a lot of people don't hate his unprofessionalism too, and it's also extremely noteworthy to point out that he's doing it from his PERSONAL ACCOUNT. It would be very different if all that stuff was coming from the official Platinum Games account.

They're within their rights to be rude, but it reflects very poorly on them. I still bought the game on PS4, and while I haven't played it yet, I'm sure I'll enjoy it when I do. But I think this is a very bad look.

Kamiya actually perfectly explained why Bayonetta 2 and 3 are exclusive to Nintendo platforms in a series of 15 tweets, it was rather heartfelt the way he talked about it.

Is it wrong for people to want more games on particular systems? I'd like there to be as many on the Switch as possible.

It's fine to want the game, but when the answer's no, it's no.

It would help if he explained why. Maybe Nintendo told them to fuck off and they're rather pissed about it.

Yeah, this "but Kamiya was an asshole to fans from his PERSONAL ACCOUNT so it's okay" excuse is straight up bullshit. He's the co-founder and public face for his company and he was clearly answering a business related question. That means he was using that account in a business capacity.

Could ve given no answer at all and stay silent.

But a good decision. Every average looking average joe indie game doesnt have to be ported to every goddamn toaster.

Wouldn't it be cool if it did, though? The ideal scenario we should strive for is having every game on as many platforms as possible. If that's too much of a toll on developers, maybe we should strive for eliminating as many platforms as possible.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

It's a shame, I think the game will do pretty fine on the Switch. But they'll have their reasons. I just find it a bit baffling because it's obvious where their influences are.

Damn this sucks. The one indie game i really wanted on my switch
