Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Which Switch Titles Can Become The Best Selling Titles In Their Franchises As Well? (Updated)

Only metroid prime 4 has a realistic chance, the other two have an impossible task.

Metroid Prime 4 & Animal Crossing = im not as sure off.

I agree.  When HD Pokemon comes out on the Switch it's going to be a rallying call to every person who has ever have played Pokemon or has ever heard of Pokemon to buy a Switch and play it.  Just the buzz around it is going to get a ton of people who don't even care about Pokemon to cave and buy it.

It's going to be the same with Metroid Prime 4 and Animal Crossing; having both in HD alone is going to create a lot of interest from people who may not have been interested otherwise.

I dont think the effect of a "HD" version of Metroid or Animal Crossing will be "big".
I expect them to sell much as they always have.

Pokemon is differnt though.
Simply having it look better could be a massive draw for it.  In the same vane I feel MH was held back by handhelds.

Pokemon, no.

Animal Crossing, maybe.

Metroid, probably.

Pokémon :

Well we don't really know what the game is, maybe it's a remake. But honestly I would wait before making any predictions about this game since we don't know at all how it's going to look and from the last 2 generations, I just feel the disappointment coming (which they don't care since they sold better than the 5G which is Imo the best one by far). I think the game has a fair shot at doing over 20 millions but again, it could do under 20 million if the game is disappointing and the price is 59$, not much people will buy 2 copies of that.

Animal Crossing :

I think yes because of how convenient the Switch is for this type of game and taking how well software is selling on it. We know it will be a good game and it's crazy how many people are waiting for this game. I think it can sell 15 millions lifetime.

Metroid Prime 4 :

I think the game needs to be really bad for it to not beat the other Metroid Prime games. The Switch is selling amazingly and It's demographic is right on with games like this. Also, there will be most likely a port/remaster of Trilogy on Switch to make people aware of the franchise. And with Internet, people are more informed than in the past. I remember with the Wii, a lot of people didn't even know Smash bros existed so image Metroid. Now you only need some good reviews and marketing and your game is everywhere. I think it's part of why Nintendo games are doing so well, people are now realizing how well received their games are when you see how Zelda broke Metacritic, you can tell it's really popular to check reviews for games now.

So if the game isn't too bad, like around 80-85 meta, it will definitely beat the first game.
If it has around 90-95 like the other prime games, it can reach around 5 millions imo.

Another factor I want to add for Metroid, of course it's a solo adventure, but with Nintendo and it's new servers, they won't ditch such a good opportunity to have their own mature multiplayer adventure with a well known franchise. I really think they will add a kinda complete yet not too much multiplayer experience to make some people Switch up to the online subs. But also, that would clearly help make the game people. This is also why I think we will have another Kid Icarus on Switch similar to Uprising, which would be a dream honestly.

People are seriously underestimating Pokémon. I would bet that it will ship 15m+ on its first quarter on the market.

I dont think thats a case but point that people know that every handheld (or in this case hybrid) has several Pokemon games, so Switch also will not have only only Pokemon release and that will effect on sales, its not like we will have just one Pokemon game that will sell hole Switch life cycle. So hardly that we will have one Pokemon game that will sell 30m+.

Yes it can.

Why?

Because resolution matters

It ll be the Monster Hunter Effect... It wont be held back, gameplay or graphically, by the 3DS anymore.
So it ll be the best Pokemon in forever, and will sell well (if the developers arnt lazy about it).

You really seem to be overestimating things.

The's a big difference here though as the hardware is not strictly portable based only we could have one title that receives DLC packs and expansions which I could see possibly happening, he's right in that Pokemon has a massive potential boost as we all underestimated the effect such a jump would have on MH and that outsold every other title with ease.

To give an example they could just have one game (two version approach) with an initial season pass then rather than make another title they would make expansion like DLC for a second season pass, it would make sense as development even though the platform is a hybrid is now console level so multiple titles like before are likely to not be as common in a gen like before.

Metroid definetly will, and Animal Crossing has a good shot. I'd say no to Pokémon since that would require selling double the 3DS entries at 1.5x the price.

No way Pokemon Switch will reach Red and Blue numbers
