Forums - Sony Discussion - Which Sony console introduced the best Sony IPs

PS4 13 14.44%

There is a thread like this for Nintendo so I thought making one for Sony is warranted as they have 6 gaming platforms, 4 consoles and 2 portables. I'll focus on the consoles as the portables don't have enough new IP's and mostly have games from existing IP's. Which one do you think is the best? I'll list the big ones here.

PS3 has the best new Sony IP's to me. Demon's Souls and Infamous are among my favourite Sony IP's and I enjoy TLOU, Uncharted and Resistance series as well. The PS3 diversity in IP's is incredible and some of the new IP's on PS4 like Bloodborne are derivatives of PS3 IP's which shows their quality.

PS1: Gran Turismo, Wipeout, Syphon Filter, MediEvil, Legend of Dragoon, MediEvil

PS2: God of War, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, Shadow of the Colossus, Killzone

PS3: Infamous, Demon's Souls, The Last of Us, Uncharted, Resistance, MotorStorm, Littlebig Planet, Heavy Rain

PS4: Horizon, Bloodborne, Until Dawn, Driveclub, The Last Guardian

Its hard to say. Many wonderful memories. i love "The Last of Us" and "Uncharted" (especially part 2/4) :) (but i have the games on PS4). And the "Heavy Rain / Beyond Two Souls"-Collection <3

"Detroit Become Human", "Death Stranding", "Days Gone", "Dreams" and "Ghost of Tsushima" are new Sony Ps4-IP's in future, right? "The Last Guardian" too. "Horizon Zero Dawn" and "Bloodborne" are impressive. I think the PlayStation 4 for me - in future.

They all have had some special memorable games, i went with the PS1 due to LOD, Syphon Filter, Gran Turismo among others, but the truth is i could have gone with either of them.

Edit: in fact i should have gone with the PS4 due to Bloodborne and Horizon being my favorite Sony games (LOD and DeS are also favorites of mine but each belong in different consoles),  but then again the PS3 had Uncharted and TLOU... which are better games than some of the ones i just mentioned, but while i can recognize that they are better games, the truth is i enjoyed the other games more but thats just because im a fan of RPGs.

I've really only experienced 3 and 4's IPs, but I'd honestly say 4. Quality over quantity.

I feel like Sony really hit its stride wih 1st party development with the PS3. PS3 brought us great new IP, and greatly improved past IP. This has lead to PS4 being very impressive already, and possible it will end up being the best Sony console for introducing new IP so far.

IMO the creation of SCEWWS, now SIEWWS, is one of the best things that has ever happened in the industry. Since starting WWS, Sony's 1st party had been on a completely different level compared to the rest of the industry, for me. The level of quality coming out of WWS is pure bliss.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Quality is subjective though I feel PS3 had both.

I can second that notion, Sony WWS has really hit it out of the park. Someone's opinions on their games may vary but its undeniable that Sony are among the only ones who release bug free and fully functional game on day one without any need for patches and their games are always polished and have fantastic production values. Their studios create games that are different from the norm and popularise them, like GT made simulator racing games a thing when most gamers were never expected to like such a mechanically deep game, God of War popularised mythos based action game that took brutality in games to a new level while delivering scope that nothing else matched at the time along with SOTC, Uncharted bringing Hollywood to video games and Infamous being a game where you can choose to be a superhero or supervillain in an open world that feels like playing an action platformer and requires you to make moral choices. I really like that their developers do something different.

What does that even mean? You asked for people's opinion, someone answered your question with their opinion, and then you said "but that's an opinion" - and then responded with an opinion. What's your point?

Edit: Unless you're saying "Quality is subjective, though" in which case, I apologize.

Personally for me having Bloodborne and Horizon is already a big nod off to PS4 ... I love those games and I think Horizon should be one of the future headlines for Playstation. I also think that The Last Guardian was quite good.

Oh, PS2, it's not even close. PS3 has the best library over all, but if we're talking about IPs created on the console then it's absolutely the PS2.

For me, its the PS2, some of my favorite Sony IPs came from there. Grew up playing Ratchet, Sly and Jak, loved Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy. God of War is my favorite Hack and Slash series and one of my favorite series in general as well. I only played Ico and SoTC on the HD collection for PS3, but those two games were also amazing.

That being said, with PS3 it does feel like they really went all out with making new IPs and overall I feel like they did a much better job at it and marketing most of them.

tough battle between the Ps1 and Ps2.
