Unless you know for a fact that the PS5 will be backwards compatible with the PS4 games, you missing out on one hell of a console.

Strong rumors suggest AMD arch meaning it will play all ps4 games. but we shall see.

Not really, PS3 lasted pretty similarly at 7 years ...
Recession had next to no appreciable effect either since last generation was the biggest for console gaming ...

No, its life was prolonged due to Kinect giving it a huge boost and causing it to peak in 2010/2011.

I think even sony must be confused with the success of PS4 which might have thrown off their internal estimate of a new console by 2019, Sony must have expected Ps4 Pro to take off so that they can kill off the base PS4, but that didnt happen, So i think before Ps5 announcement, we will hear the announcement of Base Ps4 ceasing production and PS4 Pro taking its place which will be around 2019.
So Sony could delay PS5 to improve it further, which will also give developers some more time to work on end gen games port for the launch, also PSvr2 (if thats a thing) will greatly benefit from concurrent development, My bet is Fall 2020

Well, doesn't this just prove my point even more? It's not as if the PS3 was unaffected by it.
And if you're point is right, why was ps2 replaced in six years when it doing amazing numbers?

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
I voted for Nov 2020. But it could also be 2021 because they need good launch game to justify it. PS4P dynamic 4K will easily last another 2-3yrs
