Anyone know any insiders and have a clue?

I skipped out on the ps4 this gen and i'm curious when ps5 will come out?

ps4 came out in 2013. So its 5 years old. Time for the PS5?

PS4 is not 5 years old, its 4 years and 3 months.

I think PS5 will come Nov 2020 giving PS4 a 7 year life.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I'm gonna go with nov 2021. Don't see much reason in making a new PS, as long as PS4 is going as strong as it is, especially with the great software sales.

2021 at the earliest

Poll should have 2021 option, or even 2022+. From the poll options I chose 2020, but wouldn't be surprised with 2021 at all.

EDIT: Console makers want solid process maturity, more than "early adopter" GPU/videocard vendors need to offer product.
Because they have much more volume (and sensitivity to failure rate, AKA RROD) vs niche market high end PC products.

2021. Yeah I don't think Sony will drop PS4 seeying how much of a monster is being in sales. I can see they doing more hardware models with the PS4 until then tho.

2019 is most likely, since it’s the 25th PS anniversary. 6 years is enough, last gen‘s 7 were unusually long already. Although I’d be totally fine if they waited until 2020, but I also think Sony doesn’t want to be the one reacting, they want to be acting. PS4 will keep selling and PS5 will be downwards compatible with PS4. That’s still almost 2 years from now!

Btw PS4 isn’t five years old until next November.

Why would "25th anniversary" be justification for new platform launch?
If anything, it is opportunity to offer "Special 25th anniversary edition" of PS4Pro with cosmetic details to attract PS4 owners.
Sony doesn't need temporary marketing gimmick to sell new platform, the platform should sell itself in launch year and after.
What does "Sony doesn't want to be the one reacting" actually MEAN when Sony depends on AMD to deliver core of product?
If you wait for CPU/memory process advance, you can define generation capabilities taking advantage of that leap in power.
If you don't wait, you spec performance at lower level, and non-APU/RAM parts will never benefit from re-spin price drop.

If the OP is somehow expecting 2018 or even 2019 PS5, and are holding off on PS4 purchase for that reason, I think they should check their assumptions. If you're interested now, get a PS4 Pro, don't put it off and wait until 2020 or 2021 until PS5 is launched. I mean, assuming you're interested in playing what they have to offer on PS4. Should be some good bundles coming up this year for sure.
