Patch is available now to download in the EU region at least, seems like a fairly large download.

Let us know if there's a changelog.

Edit: NA too. Only a 3 minute download for me.

If it's not too much trouble, please consider providing your input in a thread I started on Bethesda's website: https://bethesda.net/community/topic/102021/doom-switch-needs-gyro-aiming?page=1

Gyro-aiming needs to become a standard in console FPS.

Well, I don't think that'll be standard as-long as the PS4 and XB1 don't have motion-controls.

It needs to be an option if possible on all platforms.

So, it looks like they DID included an option for motion controls and gyro aiming in this update according to Nintendo Everything...

there isn't a change log but the game most certainly got a new icon and gyro aiming is in the game... feels rather strange with the speed you move about in Doom but it works a charm when you stand still and aim for something with the rifle.

Just played a few mins so didn't get to see if the audio pop is still present but I would guess that has been sorted out, feels nice and fast anyway so nothing taken away with the patch in terms of performance from what I played.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Sounds to me like just bug fixes. IDK why some are excited about a performance boost

I think some people want to boast about the power of the platform and improved performance/resolution would do that.

At best, maybe they could boost the resolution a little or make the frame rate a more stable 30 fps. But don't expect miracles is my suggestion.

New Features!

  • Motion Aiming – New control scheme option allows you to tilt the Nintendo Switch for more precise aiming

  • Multiplayer Parties – Added new party system, making it easier to group up and play with your friends in multiplayer
  • Updated Game Icon – Game icon now matches the DOOM for Nintendo Switch boxart

Improvements

  • Increased the average resolution in lower-res areas of the game
  • Implemented CPU optimizations
  • Added Traditional Chinese language support

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that resulted in a possible crash when using the BFG
  • Fixed an issue that caused audio issues while playing
  • Fixed an issue that caused stretched textures to appear in multiplayer
  • Fixed an issue where controls became unresponsive on the game menu
  • Fixed an issue where players may have incorrectly received a ban notice in multiplayer

Yep.

I think there was more hype about performance optimization than anything else. Essentially what the person I was responding was addressing.

Everything else is nice as well.

Nice.  You know, for all the compromises, Doom is dang impressive relative to the hardware, especially in handheld mode.  And especially when you consider it was brought over by a porting studio and not built for the Switch by id themselves.
