SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY

This is the game many people have been waiting for since Mario 64. I am sure others are all about Zelda or Mario Kart, but I think Mario Odyssey + Uncompromised games on the go is its biggest selling factor.

It also could be partly due to people thinking this is the successor to the Wii, as I know alot of people thought the WiiU was a Wii accessory.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Price and portability.

Japan is videogames.

It was the Russians!

Portable system with powerful graphics, Zelda, Mario, will get the full listing of all Nintendo portable and console games, motions controls, 2 player with just one handheld system, awesome indie games...just a really cool concept.

I didn't even bother with Wii U/PS4/Xbox One. Didn't pay any attention to video games since like 2011. Suddenly I heard about the Switch when they announced it and I start getting interested again. Got my Switch last summer. It's great!

I think it's the fact that they finally nailed the marketing. I originally wasn't gonna get Switch day one, then went to one of the preview events a month before launch and was just blown away. All of a sudden, full console games could be taken anywhere with little compromise. Everything just works as advertised, which is rarer than you'd think. The impact was huge and then from there, games just kept coming out. Every week, something or 5 came out on eshop, every month to 6 weeks, a new major title came out. It was genius and it got people's attention! It took several years for PS4 to establish itself like this!

The Switch actually got me into the Zelda franchise, I didn't really play them before but because that was the game to have last March, I gave it a chance and it was the perfect launch title.

Even with the mega successful launch, I didn't expect nearly 15 million in just 10 months. I actually thought it was a long shot that it could beat Wii U that quickly but it caught on and has been one of the most fun systems i've ever had!

I can't wait to see whats in store for Switch this year..

Prediction: Switch will sell better than Wii U Lifetime Sales by Jan 1st 2018

The portability and so far solid list of games have got it off to a hot start. Now the key is maintaining that overall momentum.

It's selling well because they finally figured out how to market a console. From it's design, to advertisements to the games that have released... it's all great marketing and strategy which is something they'd failed at since the 80's.

Most people think success in console gaming is about games and a lot of it is, but marketing wins the day. A good marketing team can sell shit in a handbag (obviously, the Switch is not shit but just making a point) and people will buy it.

The planets all aligned.
